Employee Card Daily Limits? (20)

How do you guys get around the daily limits imposed on employee debit cards? BofA only allows a max spend of $500 a day and will only increase up to $1000 a day for a limited time (a week or so).

How are you guys getting around this or are you dealing with a different bank that doesn't have these limits?

If you call up your local branch, they can increase it to 2k/daily for 15 days.

I've never gotten then to go over $1400/day on an Employee Card. I've argued with them a few times but several reps have all said the same thing. I know for a fact that your account balance doesn't matter. They have denied limit raises on accounts with extremely large balances. If anyone can figure it out, please share cuz yeah it sucks.

One thing you can do (if it's a personal account) is make virtual cards on the fly. To my knowledge they don't allow it for biz accounts though.

Wells Fargo is even worse, you can get $5k/day limit cards but you have to open a new account for each one lol, yeah right.

What I'd like to do is get an unlimited biz credit card that allows me to create virtual cards on the fly (like BOA's personal accounts can do). This way, never have to worry about it again.

I use Bank of America and my (real) employees routinely use more than $2k/day and we've never had any issue. I wasn't aware there was any limit at all, in fact, besides the ones I've imposed on them myself (max total spending limit, for example).

Maybe try another B of A rep/location?

That's strange because when I called the rep at BofA told me there's no way to increase the limit on an employee card above $1000/day (and even that just for two weeks). I'll try speaking with the local branch and see what they can do. Are you using employee credit cards or debit?

I apologize, these are cards that are linked to our main credit card, so that might be different than for debit cards. I just re-read your original post and saw you said debit. Can't hurt to ask them again anyway, though, eh?

I actually spoke with my bank and they allowed a higher limit after working it out with Discover.

Yeah I did that, and accidentally spent more than that in a day and payment failed. Switched in a different card though, just sucks that these limits are in place.

You don't, just use your own for all of your employee cards. I just got 3 new employee AMEX's with fantasy lore names

Nope, they said they can't go above $1004 a day on employee cards no matter what. Really need to spend more and it sucks not to be able to.

Thinking of getting a new business credit card, but there's no point because I'll have to supply my name on it anyway. I don't get how guys are buying 5k spend accounts and using new cards and different names without running into spend limits. Unless they're using credit cards of family and friends.

I literally just got off the phone with BOA customer service and had them raise my employee card limit to 2k for 2 weeks. I have to this every 15 days, so I know it can be done.

That's what I do... a tad bit annoying, but at least you don't have to do it everyday.

I have an Amex Platinum but don't feel like paying $450 a piece for each employee card. Was thinking Chase Ink instead and I hear Plum cards have gotten way harder to get.
