Hey everyone

Could please someone advice what are the best traffic sources for dating vertical? And does it depends to the geo?

You can Try Traffic Junky, Traffic Factory or Exoclick. All are good.

I’d advise you to divide dating up to mainstream and adult.
If we’re talking about mainstream: review sites, social media sources, any kind of native advertising on blogs, forums, classifieds.

If we’re talking about adult dating – you know, all this stuff like tubes, so I’d also recommend you such adnetworks as TrafficJunky, ExoClick,Traffic Factory, EroAdvertising. You can set up RON campaigns and then optimize on sources or you can choose the most popular tubes from the very beginning, or you can set up 2 campaigns and split them.
Regarding geos I’d recommend you to start with Tier1 - US, DE, UK.

By the way, i'm going to share a few cases with dating. If you want, you can check. probably it could be useful for you!

Since this is in the adult section, I'm going to assume you are asking about ADULT dating specifically, because as cupcake suggested, dating offers are generally either adult/casual or mainstream.

So for adult, most of the traffic is on the tubes and there are 4 or 5 large networks that basically have almost all the volume

Exoclick, Trafficjunky, TrafficFactory and TrafficStars are the largest ones. Then there is TrafficForce, Twinred, JuicyAds, Ero-advertising, Exoticads, Plugrush, Hilltopads... and quite a few more smaller ones.

Any of these networks can work well, some of them contain more garbage or poor traffic than the others though. It's connected with the way they operate.

So for example networks like trafficjunky and trafficfactory sell traffic from a very limited amount of sites that they directly own or are part of the same parent company. This way, the traffic quality is more constant and let's say under control.

On the other side, there are networks like exoclick that buy advertising spots on 1000s of small sites and that means they cannot really control their quality in any way. Because of that, there are some BOT heavy sites in the mix, some that just recycle traffic from other sites and trade click between each other etc... this traffic is often very poor as a result. This doesn't mean that the network itself is bad or anything like that, it's just a different way of setup that requires a different and more aggressive optimization approach.

As for the GEOs, most networks have a mix of traffic and they don't specialize in any particular one, but there are some exceptions.

I'm not sure how big it is these days, but there was one network that had basically just german speaking traffic: trafficfarbik.com and there might be some more in different GEOs.

Then there are some networks that naturally have a higher % of some GEO due to where they operate, for example ero-advertising has some NL websites that you cannot find on other networks.

And of course the GEO breakdown is a bit different from one website to the next, so for example adult sites that run on country level domains (.fr for France, .de for German...) tend to have more of such traffic. But this is more about particular websites than the network itself.

When it comes to what GEOs to choose, I kinda disagree with cupcake here, as he suggests TIER1 countries and that's usually not the best idea for a newbie. While these are the most lucrative markets with the highest revenue potential, these are also the most competitive ones so it's easy to burn your fingers there. Once you know what you are doing, sure, jump into TIER1 but for the starters I'd experiment with the newer EU member states or even Asia or Africa.

They're a solid source with VERY consistent traffic quality... just the volumes Have you been able to get some decent volumes from them lately? I have to admit I kinda gave up on them, looks like they either use too much of it internally or sell a large % to flat/bulk buyers and not much is left in the public bidding part of their platform.

Faced the same issue! It's always hard to increase volumes with them, but the CR is stable though. Probably you're right, that they sell on a flat a large amount of their traff.
The same with Exo, by the way, if you’re buying not on RON.
But I’m always satisfied with the quality of traffic from them.

Yup, there is a lot of flat/bulk selling going on in the background. It wasn't like that with TJ a few years ago, which is a shame because as you say, their traffic is of very stable quality.

What is the minimum amount of $ needed to start with adult dating, if i decide to buy traffic for tier1 from networks that you mentioned ?

This is always a hard question to answer

But let me try to do it anyways.

In order to do any meaningful optimization you should be able to spend at least $50 per day.

And to have a solid shot at even learning the basics and test a decent amount of creatives and offers, you need to dedicate let's say 3 months to this.

This would mean 90 days * 50 = $4500.

Now, you will obviously make something back from the campaigns, it's not like you would be running at 100% loss. A safe estimate would be something like -50% ROI from the beginning, which should start to improve as you go. But let's use those -50% as a benchmark.

So out of $4500 you will make $2250 back which cut's the needed budget from $4500 down to $2250.

But, it takes a few weeks to start receiving payouts so I would add a security bumper to account for this.

So realistically, in order to run for 3 months at a $50 per day spend, you need to start with about $3000.

This will give you a solid chance at the dating game. Of course it doesn't mean you will become profitable after 3 months! Some people can do it faster, some never will, keep that in mind.

And one more thing, let's not forget about the additional expenses such as tracker, hosting, STM membership (I hope and so on.

On the other hand, the numbers can play in your favor in case you are able to start with a better ROI than -50%.

You can also start with lower Ad spend and progress slowly... some people do this too, but personally I believe $50 is a healthy daily minimum.

It all depends on how well you do.

I would say trafficfactory is the best alternative for now. But you can still get some good traffic from trafficjunky, just not the volumes one would expect as they manage some of the largest adults sites that exist.

Obviously do your own due diligence and research, but personally I have nothing bad to say about them at the moment.
