Total newbie's adventure in mobile

I just got a dating campaign going. So far, 42 clicks and one conversion.

I'm direct linking. I might try to throw an LP although from what I've read the best option on mobile is DL.

I've been tracking using some of the Jumptap tokens. It's tracking correctly but I'm doing it wrong because of the way I've setup my campaigns.

What I did is setup a single Campaign, under that campaign I have all my ad bundles.

I created three different banners and then resized them to 480x75, 300x50 and 216x36. So each ad bundle has the same banner in three sizes.

I just realized that the jumptap tracking has no way of telling which banner size in each ad bundle is getting the clicks so I dont know which size is more effective.

So how should I go about this? Say I create 4 different banners, resize each banner three times and setup 12 different ad bundles?

I'm using OfferMobi and I just tacked these subids to the end of the URL:

aff_sub=JT_OPERATOR&aff_sub2=JT_HANDSET&aff_sub3=J T_ADBUNDLE&aff_sub4=JT_CAMPAIGN&aff_sub5=JT_PUBLIS HER&JT_SITE

It's not tracking JT_SITE for some reason though.

Also, how do you guys rotate mobile offers? I don't want to use Prosper because from what I've read its pretty slow for mobile. Maybe a simple PHP file?

Any tips appreciated !

put &aff_sub5=JT_PUBLISHER,JT_SITE

which will pass back both the pub and site ids to aff_sub5, separated by a comma, which you can then split in Excel or similar.

As for rotating, you can use the Ad Manager built into HasOffers (if the CPA network uses HasOffers), although I haven't worked out how to use it yet.

In Jumptap, create separate ad bundles for each banner size. It's the only way you can track which banner size is getting the impressions and clicks.

Thanks for all the info Nick!

I dont think the network uses HasOffers.

I'm guessing jumptap doesnt approve creatives during the weekends? I dont want to make any changes right now if it means the whole campaign will be paused till monday afternoon-tuesday.

I just restructured my entire campaign and I am putting each ad size in to its separate ad bundle.
I made the mistake of adding to the end of my SUBID the name of the ad and then just checking the "Add tracking parameters to URL" checkbox . For some reason it's not tracking correctly, I am just getting the hardcoded name of the ad.

I am thinking that maybe dating isn't a good first campaign to launch in mobile. I am more used to being able to target by age and gender in POF. In mobile I feel promoting dating is really just flinging tons of ads and hoping that the right demographic clicks on the ads.

So far 234 clicks, one conversion.

I am now going to look for another different type of offer to run in parallel to the dating ads.

I am now tracking adname,JT_CAMPAIGN,JT_ADBUNDLE,JT_OPERATOR,JT_HAND SET,JT_KEYWORD,JT_PUBLISHER,JT_SITE,JT_TIMESTAMP

Overkill?

You don't need to track ad name if you are tracking ad bundle. Also, keyword is borderline useless and time stamp may also be if your network already reports the time of a conversion.

You can also drop publisher and just block non performing sites.

Ah yes, no idea why I thought Timestamp might be good for dayparting. I didn't think about the network timestamp report.

Why do you think keyword is useless? I am not really sure how this works in JT but if I am bidding for certain kws shouldn't I track them?

Thanks for the help!

I think their keyword reporting is a bit outdated. I mean, I think keywords in jumptap basically mean categories.

It's better to optimize by blocking sites rather than certain categories.
