I recently had an interview with _____ . I see the services this company offers on many networks.
The only thing holding me back from going head over heals into this offer is that _____ told me they are only interested in males 25+ (wtf i thought they would have wanted females lol, i actually had to pause my female campaign that i was running for them because they said they didn't want them?!?!) , and that I will be on a % program. basically, I get a flat 90% of a sale, and a bonus per lead of sales that increases as my leads that actually CONVERT CVR% increases.
As a noob, is this the better choice to go with?
I almost feel like getting a flat amount per lead with a network is more noob friendly to start with in case my leads don't convert to sales.
Any suggestions from someone who's been there before? At first I was really excited to work direct, but unless the leads are quality it might not pay as well as CPL with a network.
Thanks in advance,
Yours truly,

edit: I know I should always aim for leads that will convert as it will come down to it eventually, I just feel like way more people sign up and don't pay then do.
At the end of the day the advertiser is the one that can offer you the highest payout.
If your traffic quality isn't good rest assured they will contact the network in a week and shut you down.
The best solution is to work closely with the advertiser and find a payout that works out for both.
Also , make sure you ask about payment terms , most advertisers pay monthly instead of weekly.
would like to thank the STM forums, every network that I went to sign up with before the whole advertiser shindig shoed me in once i mentioned STM, you guys rock!
I'm current working direct with _______ and i'm happy with the cpl option they give me.
Generally they would look at a 4% conversion rate from lead to sales on their end. So if you're new I would recommend you go for CPL instead of 90% from the sales.
Put you are not good in pre selling the visitors on your landing page, chances are your leads quality are lousy, and advertiser will decrease your payout.
Currently I'm with _____ on a weekly payout and the rate they paying me is above all the CPA network out there. So in other words, I'm happy, advertiser is happy.
The key is, you have to understand that if you want to work direct with advertiser, you have to think long term rather than short term. Direct linking? Forget about it. It's your responsibility to ensure the leads that you drive CONVERT, and not until this point, you don't wanna work direct.
Tips* you always want to mix in higher quality leads to ensure the advertiser is happy. In my case, even the advertiser asking for 25+, I send 60% 30+ leads mix with 40% 25+ leads.
Always better to work direct, as long as you can trust the advertiser
I disagree. Sometimes may be better to work with a network as they can "blend" in your traffic with other sources. So if you have grade A traffic then yes run direct and get "right priced" just remember if quality is not there you may get less than a network would pay you.
Also, most advertisers will never waste their time working unless you can provide VOLUME, as well as quality, until you can demonstrate both, it is very hard to strike a deal with an advertiser.
Here's my 2 cents coming from the advertiser stand point- Blackberry is right, many large advertisers wont even bother with people that cant deliver volume. We typically dont work direct with anyone that cant push 50+/day on rebill. We always prefer to work direct, just because its easier to track quality, more transparency to the traffic + costs us less.
As a noob, networks are probably your best (and only) option until you learn the robes and scale your biz. At that point, once you are driving some consistent, high volume, I would 100% try to go direct with the advertiser. Im sure anyone that works/owns a network will disagree with me, but im just being real. More transparency, less pixel misfire and you SHOULD be getting paid higher then any network can offer. If you arent.. stick with the networks! lol
For now stick with the networks, thats your best bet. But down the line, its definitely worth a shot to work direct.
