Dominate Video Ads in 2022: The Process that Generated €140 Mill (Chris Erthel)

TIPS AND TAKEAWAYS:

1)The famous 15 x 1 approach: Create an ad, then create 15 different versions of the first 1 second of the ad (the rest of the ad is the same - only the first second is different).

Split test these 15 versions, then look at the data, compare the ads by CTR, cost per view, return on ad spend to find the clear winner.

2)Winning Facebook campaign structure for testing and scaling campaigns:

Set up multiple CBO test campaigns. Each campaign with €150/day budget, and 15 adsets each spending 9-11 euros a day, 1 set per adset. (So basically the 15 variations from the 15 x 1 approach.)

When a CBO test campaign has spent enough money to find a winning creative (e.g. after €600 in spend), can move that creative into a scaling campaign.

Chris has 3 scaling campaigns with high budgets each (Chris is running 50-60k/day but obviously it doesn't have to be that high), with the best ads inside.

3)Keep audience targeting broad.

4)7 Elements of Ethical Ads:

People are more depressed now during covid times - we should do our part to promote good products using ethical ways. The good news is that ethical ads convert better!

Make people feel good with your ads and your business, you're get better RoAS on your ads, plus better product reviews to yield a better-performing business in the long term.

Below are the 7 elements of ethical ads...

->Don't leave people feeling worse than before they saw your ad.

Use humor for example, instead of showing people they have problems that only your product can solve, and if they can't afford it they're doomed.

->Don't help to sell unethical products, courses, or services.

->No deception - be transparent in your advertising.

->Don't use unrealistic beauty or sex to sell.

For example heavily photoshopped images.

->Don't drop-ship low-quality products.

Low-quality stuff breaks easily and after a short amount of time, and people would need to replace them. This generates a lot of waste which is unfriendly to the environment, including the CO2 emissions involved in mailing them all the way from China for example. Global warming is a big problem for all of humanity now.

->Don't run ads that affect minorities.

Check your comments section to see how people are reacting to your ads to make sure.

->Don't greenwash.

Don't pretend to be doing good for the environment when you're only doing a tiny bit for show as a marketing ploy.

5)You need to have a systematic and consistent way of testing creatives.

You have to test a lot of creatives every week.

6)Make your ads look native to the platform you're advertising on.

7)UGC content works very well.
