The Ultimate Holiday Prep Guide to Double Your Email Revenue
Let’s go on with another interesting eCom related speech.
The presenter, Joshua Chin, is the CEO of Chronos Agency, which is a “retention” agency helping eCom businesses increase their revenue by using email, SMS and mobile Push.

The presentation starts with some interesting numbers, showcasing the numbers Chronos helped their clients to reach and some overall data about the growth of eCom globally.
Chronos generated $41M from email alone for their clients in 2020 and even more than that in 2021.
For some of those brands, up to 50% total revenue has been driven by email - beauty, live style (email works great even for not exactly recurring purchase products).
Joshua mentioned that a lot of their clients have no strategy for email marketing during holidays.
And that is a big mistake since holidays are the most profitable season for eCom.

He goes on by listing major holidays in Q4, check the slide to see those above.
The most important part of this speech is presenting his 6-step email marketing holiday sequence.
Based on their past result over at Chronos, this approach usually doubles or triples the overall revenue during any major holiday season.
The 6 steps are:
Hype
Priority List
Priority Launch
Main Launch
Social Reminder
Sales Closing
And now let’s take a look at them, one by one.
Step 1 - HYPE BUILDER

Build up hype and anticipation in advance so that the customers know a deal is coming and budget that in.
Get them interested, if they are not, let them opt out from this particular sequence.
This increases open rates down the line, increases open rates because they are expecting more emails to come.
Step 2 - PRIORITY LIST

Capture interested customers early, use historical data to segment your list, let them opt in for a priority launch (email, SMS…).
Prioritize these customers and offer special perks or unique sales options, such as limited VIP bundles.
Step 3 - PRIORITY LAUNCH

Start 1-2 days in advance before the deal is live for everyone.
This builds a sense of exclusivity, trust and loyalty. Use unique VIP codes.
Priority launch usually brings much higher CVR.
Consider re-sending the same priority email again, to those who haven’t opened the first one, just use a different subject line.
Step 4 - MAIN LAUNCH

Send emails to the rest of your list and also retarget priority list subs that have not purchased yet.
Use eye-catching subject lines. Get inspired by angles that work in your other ad campaigns and repurpose them in your email copy and subject lines.
Joshua shows many great examples are shown in the slides, don't forget to check them out.
Step 5 - SOCIAL REMINDERS

Use UGC such as testimonials, reviews… make these part of the email, these are evergreen and will work regardless of the season.
Position them at the lower/bottom part of the email.
Step 6 - SALES CLOSING

Send these emails out close to the end of the sale, even several hours before it ends.
Use a countdown to create a sense of urgency.
Use the data you have to promote possible upsells based on past behavior.

Joshua also shared a link to get a short ebook that contains major holiday dates, pre-launch checklist and more details on the 6-step email sequence,

You will need to enter your email to get access to it.
That’s it for today.
