What to focus on while selecting the offer?

Hey guys,
I have started my journey on TikTok ads and it's been just few days so cant tell how it was. But while selecting the offers, I asked my AM regarding eoc and CR and it seemed good but on the initial days I didn't got any results and I don't expect that too but while thinking I got a question that whether we should totally rely on the AMs who are telling that this is converting best or something, or we should just randomly test which seems good, or rely on spy tools, or doing some research? I started researching that whether the offer I am promoting is the actual need of people or this is something that is not an actual need of people and I am wasting my time. I am promoting debt relief offers, I got clicks but none of them converted, I am not sure why this happened! I am trying shuffling the creatives so now I am looking at the offer. I researched but didn't even saw the name of this debt relief program anywhere. I also know that we cant judge any offer without testing it. I don't know am I going right or not? Or is there any other angle with which should I research and make my decisions? At the end I am confused!

The advice from AMs can be biased at times. They might need volume on specific offers, to they would suggest those to affiliates. They might be getting bigger share on some as a network so the AM is motivated to push those... etc.

The average EPC can be very confusing too, as you never know what methods affiliates are using to promote some offers. The EPC from let's say PUSH traffic will be very different from the EPC someone can achieve with targeted email clicks, for example.

When asking for offer tips, I like to get those that do solid volume across the network. An offer that is promoted heavily is likely a better overall performer than some new offer that shows good EPCs for a small number of affiliates with super targeted traffic.

But in the end, these AM recommendations are what they are... just recommendations and should be taken as such. It's definitely good to get advice from AMs, especially from the good and honest ones, but you still need to select the best ones by testing.

Understand your situation, think all of us were in the pretty much same shoes when we started our affiliate marketing journey, since choosing the right niche is really on of the hardest tasks that exist here, and the one that requires the most effort and patience. Usually it's a good idea to look through different verticals and check if they are trending and if there is a need in the market for them. On the other hand, here you also need to be careful about not choosing niche that is oversaturated as that would also be a low converting niche. I agree that testing some time is a necessary thing, but maybe you should try with testing more verticals at the same time and not rely only on one as it seems you are doing at the moment.

That seems understandable but I have also heard guys saying that you should master one niche or a vertical first rather than jumping on anything you see! Just a random doubt..

Sticking to one (or limited amount of) vertical when starting out is a very good idea! Otherwise, you might find yourself jumping from one thing to the next, without giving anything enough time to actually stand a chance.

Same goes for traffic types, it takes a while to learn how a specific traffic type works, especially when it's creative heavy.

On the other hand, this doesn't mean you have to stick to the initial choice FOREVER or until you make it profitable no matter what.

Sometimes we just make a bad choice and we start in a vertical, GEO or traffic type that simply isn't the right fit for us. Some people cannot make certain GEOs work because of the language barriers, some don't have the skills or resources to craft TikTok videos, some fail when it comes to the adult niche, because they find it distractive or in conflict with their morals. It can also be a bad choice of the initial offers that simply aren't good performers.... there are many reasons why we cannot master EVERYTHING and that's perfectly normal.

This being said, once you are confident that you understand the tech side of things (campaign setup, tracking...) and you are confident about the optimization process and the creative part of the game, but you still don't seem to be moving in the right direction, changing the approach and switching the vertical or traffic source might actually be a good idea. Just do not make pre-mature decisions, you need to be sure you have made all the possible effort and that you have tested enough. I know that setting the border when it comes to what is "enough" can be a bit tricky, but I hope you understand where I'm going with this
