I've met someone a few weeks ago, they are doing well with print od demand from China. Took him a few tries to find a reliable supplier, but now it's all good.
Dropshipping still works too, but all the big ecomm people kind of agree it's not as hot as it used to be and using local suppliers or buying in bulk from China, then storing locally is the way to go.
One interesting tip I have heard quite recently: use dropshipping to find products that have potential (fast setup, no upfront investment needed) and once you have the winners, order in bulk and use local storage/supplier to cut down on shipping times. This approach does make a lot of sense actually.
