Taboola GIFs
Hey ya'll,
I've been hearing that GIFs give good CTRs from colleagues but haven't got around to testing them.
Someone who's experienced with Taboola got feedback on GIFs? How are they with Search Arbitrage?
What happens if you run them together with regular creatives? Is it cool to do so?
Concern is I'm testing all new camps with the "Optimized" creatives setting, which is worrying that the GIFs will always go on top and the regular photos may not get a chance.
Are they running on different placements completely? What are the best type of GIFs?

So the answer you're not going to like is, test it.
Yeah, told you that you wouldn't like it. Because I'm guilty of it as well. I see something new and think "I bet that would work well", but instead of actually testing it, I look around to see if someone else has already done it.
Really the right solution is to fire off a small test campaign and see what happens. If it shows any promise, then continue to refine the process.

Yeah I experimented with them on Taboola a ton, and they basically just seemed to perform almost the same as regular ones... I did find some that did very well, but it wasn't something where you would need to run them in different campaigns or something... I would just test any good gifs you find right alongside regular images, but certainly is smart to be wary of any of them that end up with a high ctr/low cvr thing going on...

Thank you for the great value Jack.
A thing I'm concerned with - do you think that there are publishers that don't allow GIFs therefore even if you mix up GIFs with regular images you might get less traffic?

The answer to that is that on Taboola you need to set up a fallback image to the GIF so that in case the publisher doesn't accept a GIF then the fallback image will be displayed. The AM highly recommends adding GIFs to the creatives.
