Consistent Loss.... No more no less.
Hey Guys,
I've been running Facebook ads since 6 months and have been trying to learn many more new things and yeah to reach break-even too. So yes I started this journey in August where I chose with auto insurance (CPL model) in 1st tier countries. And at that time my 2 ad accounts got banned. I again started with another ads manager that too got banned. Then I purchased agency accounts and in that I didn't got good support so yes I finally chose to go with 2nd and 3rd tier geo to start stable (Yes, I was not doing any BH thing).
I started to search some good networks to start with 2nd and 3rd tier and my friend suggested me one network and I started to run Health CPA offer in 3rd tier geo. I didn't got good approval rate and I caught the network shaving my leads. They kept my 98 leads on hold and never provided me the status of it. When I asked my AM about it he said that the leads which are on hold after 3-4 days will not get any status. So I left the work with them but due to this I was in much loss. (Yes I also checked prior about this network on Affpaying but the reviews were good).
Then I found the direct advertiser through STM and was in touch with him anywhere I face any difficulties with my leads approval. They were having their network too but the setup of LP was difficult so I started the work with the network which the direct adv suggested me to work with. That network is good enough that I am working with now, I am working with Hair and White hat CPA offers in Thailand. Because Thailand is quite convertible geo for me. But now the issue is I have had gathered loss since starting because when I started I had many difficulties and to cover that loss is becoming difficult for me.
I can say that I have actually started the revenue since last November only and we all know that Facebook expense isn't that low. I am learning many things from STM everyday and I have started doing research on scaling. I have found the winners of my camp and have tested many different creatives. But the issue is when I started scaling at that time I was getting 10 or more leads everyday but now the leads that I am getting is very low. I have implemented the strategies to scale that is been shown by the experts but I am not satisfied by the results. I have tried horizontal scaling but I was not satisfied by it's results then I did vertical scaling which gave me results for few days then I read somewhere that we can also test VHV and HVH scaling so right now I am doing VHV scaling. And every day I am stuck at $900 loss, whenever there is some profit and I reduce the damn loss the next day I get less leads and boom the loss is again $900. So I wanna know that what can I do to effectively run my ads.
Till now I have spent around $4k and earned $3k and I am not even thinking to get rich in few time but I have decided to reduce my loss by $500 by this month because I believe that a business without a goal to profit is not a business it's just a hobby. So I don't wanna treat this as a hobby I wanna do some real business and learn new things that I can implement. Because sometimes I feel that am I the only one who is taking so much time to make this work but somewhere I feel that maybe I could be so close to the success. Anyways, I am attaching my Facebook ads screenshot so that you guys can help me in optimizing or scaling if there is my mistake doing these things. (The figures on ads manager is in INR)

You started to get an understanding of AM by trying several traffic sources and networks.
Tell us what is your objective, how much funds you have to dedicate to AM. Do you have a vertical or a traffic sources that you like more. This will allow you to concentrate on one thing until it works. You can also start a follow along and publish your campaigns.

Oh finally I got reply on this post. Thanks Jeremie. I can allocate $10k to AM for now, in short this is my career I have decided to stick with it by hook or crook there's no other way to move on. Yeah I am promoting on Facebook and I wont shift the traffic source until I master it and currently I am not focused on vertical but yes for geo I am going with Thailand. Till now I have only promoted CPA health and beauty offers.
I have attached the screenshots of my campaigns so that you guys can guide me and improve me where I am lacking. But unfortunately today only I got banned from Facebook. I was not doing any BH thing but maybe this could be because of the hair offer that I promoted or could be because today I changed many bids of the camp. I don't know what went wrong but yes I am not giving up and starting with new account.

For Facebook, @stickupkid should be able to give you some directions on geo / vertical.

Do you mind sharing where? I know someone that can provide good support if you'd like to try some place else. Please feel free to PM if you don't prefer to share in public, but please remind me here in a post so I know to check for your PM. (Disclaimer: STM does not endorse any product or service - it would be my personal suggestion and I never accept compensation for any suggestions I've ever made or ever will make on this forum. Use at your own risk.)
Till now I have spent around $4k and earned $3k
In this climate where FB has been so unstable, this is an ABSOLUTE FEAT for someone that had relatively little experience 6 months ago!
You need to be VERY proud of how far you've come. Even some of the big marketers I know that used to make a lot of money on FB, have found it increasingly challenging to make profits from FB.
You've chosen a great geo and a great vertical. With more testing you may crack the scaling part of the equation.
I haven't run heavily on FB in the past year - only smaller campaigns for businesses/services. Hopefully FB experts that are still scaling hard today can share some tips. In the meantime I'll tell you what has helped me in the past.
1)Depesh Mandalia's CBO Cookbook - it got updated a few months ago (Sept 2021) -
https://www.cbocookbook.com/
2)Ecom Empires -
https://www.facebook.com/groups/ecomempires - click on the "Guides" tab - there are scaling strategies there. They were posted 1.5 years ago so I don't know how well they work today. May be worth a test.
3)I know you said you've tested lots of creatives, but testing STILL more creatives may just give you that breakthrough you're looking for. Try to come up with more angles as well.
(BTW I see an adset with 6.82% CTR that you hardly spent money on - what was the reason for pausing it?)
Question: How broad is your targeting? Your frequency is still great but I wanted to ask anyway. Also: How many creatives have you tested? I know you said "a lot" but how many is a lot? Tens? Hundreds? Thousands?

Thanks Amy, for these words. I am trying hard to make it work for me more.

I stopped it because it was running since 3 days and didn't gave a single lead. (I might be wrong at judging it but yes this is how I judged it)

I generally target whole Thailand, no interest targeting and only male (because I tested it and FB was spending more on males). I spied the creatives and tested all those (it was around 10 in total). I made some creatives by myself too but that wasn't that converting so I stopped showing my creativity for now :|)

@isha_18 Great to see your journey. But obsessed with one traffic source may not make sense at times. And you can surely master Facebook without spending money! ( yes learning to swim is possible without drowning). Facebook bans accounts randomly and sometimes even the top marketers find it really tough to get things straight (even if they did every single thing correct by the book). Having said that Facebook tends to get slightly lenient and approachable with huge spends and if you are brand/registered business.
If you have the time "free" traffic is the best point to start(personal opinion). Platforms/traffic sources come and go... and yes affiliate marketing did exist before Facebook came and will still remain even if Facebook vanishes suddenly. Good luck!

That's true! But I have read many times and in many posts that sticking with one traffic source until you master it and not jumping from one traffic source to another is the best way to succeed at AM. So I just wanted to any one of them because the basics are same in all the traffic source, if you know one properly then the next one wont take time to get profits. Anyways, this is what I believe!!

Sure, I will think about this too because right now all I am doing is research and testing new things. But I am not sure about the traffic quality and now-a-days everyone are doing these free traffic stuff so yes it is saturated maybe.

Got your PM! Will reply here - this post can help:

Hmm....3 days but the spend was so low? What was the payout per lead? The FB I remember is all about CTR - usually the ad that gets high CTR will get shown to the audience often. This is weird.
Regarding creatives: I think we may have identified the issue. Spied creatives can do well, but you have no idea how saturated they may or may not be. And 10 creatives isn't much, especially if you're planning on scaling.
So I would suggest to focus on testing LOTS of creatives over the next while. Do research to find out everything about your audience - people that are in need of your products. Work that research into your angles and creatives. Set aside a whole week if you need to. Come up with 30-50+ creatives to test.
Another thing to try would be to test more audiences. Targeting broad is a must-test, but if you're having trouble getting that to be profitable, it may not hurt to test smaller audiences in the meantime. Smaller audiences may not have the scalability of broader audiences, but the conversion rate can be higher if you get your messaging right. Customize your creatives for each audience if you can.
I feel that you're close to finding profits. Doing these two things plus using a reliable agency account may get you there!

Thank you so much Amy for this. I'll surely implement this. The payout for the offer was $38.

You're very welcome!
So the payout is $38 and the adset with the high CTR had only spent around $1.50 - may be worth it to set up another adset with the same creative to give it another go.
