Anyone experiencing HUGE click loss in TikTok?
I have been monitoring some campaigns lately and I have found out that the click loss in TikTok is huge.
That, or we are getting charged for clicks that are not visitors, but rather bots / reviewers.
For example, these were the stats for one of my campaigns:
- Clicks in TikTok: 512
- Unique Clicks (Our Tracking): 465
- Gross Clicks (Our Tracking): 512
- Clicks with "ttclid" parameter (Our Tracking): 372
- Click loss: 372 / 465 = 0,8 => 1 - 0,8 = 20%
Some questions I have, for TikTok experts @ScottyG @cassshy @iAmAttila @jack_l
1) Is the "Clicks" column in TikTok raw clicks or unique clicks? > Yes, it's GROSS / RAW CLICKS
2) Why do you think 20% of the unique clicks came without the "ttclid" parameter? > No Idea
3) Do you think we are getting charged for traffic that we are not actually buying? (out of GEO, bots, reviewers etc.) > Who knows?!
I have analyzed my server logs and these are the conclusions I reached, but would love to know the community's experience.

I am not doing TikTok. However... 20% clickloss is not uncommon on many traffic sources. Also receiving bot traffic is kinda normal these days.
Easiest way to cope with this is to find offers that convert well enough to make your traffic loss a minor issue.

20% is really not that big, I see something similar even with google ads. It's also often a problem of timezones that do not match, are you sure you are comparing the same time frames? And yes, just as larso mentioned above, there are ALWAYS some bots in the mix.

Yes, the timezones are correct.
I thought 20% of click loss was huge.

Well, it could be better, but I've had way worse.
It also depends on what kind of tracking you are using to compare the numbers, every solution has some specifics that can be responsible for the loss.
Certain loss is also natural, not every click will actually reach the final destination... poor server speed and page loading times can have a large impact on this.
But anyways, it would be the best to see some reaction from someone who has run a decent amount of TT traffic... @

I only ran TikTok for a month or two but yeah, I think it just is what it is... they could probably change their tracking up so it was less of an issue but then the cpc's would be higher...
It didn't seem to me like it was dependent on anything I could control, just an idiosyncrasy of the traffic source...
Could be totally wrong though...

BTW, since I mentioned google Ads earlier, I just check my stats for the day...
Google Ads charge me for 607 clicks and I se 512 in my stats... so close to 20% loss too.

Yes, that's exactly what I am using. What do you think could be the cause?

BTW, got this info from TikTok - It might be interesting to you:

Although it does not apply to me, as I am not using Pixel tracking.

Also, they confirmed me that the "Clicks" column is gross / raw clicks.
And that a new "ttclid" is generated for every visit, even if the visit came from the same IP.
So the actual click loss calculation should be:
- Click loss: 372 / 512 = 0,72 => 1 - 0,72 = 28%
28% Click Loss

Have you tracked the clickloss over time? Have you checked which country the clickloss clicks are from?
I see the same thing on basically all of my camps but I believe its their AI in the Philippines checking for cloaked websites.
If it helps, I see the same thing though amigos. In fact, 20% isn't even all that high.

Are you disregarding compliance clicks? They are pretty easy to spot. Once you back those out, it will look better.
I did post in another thread, I have about a 16% loss from TT to network and I have it set up to ignore compliance clicks.

But compliance clicks SHOULD NOT be shown in the "Clicks" column nor be charged for.

Yes, it happens with all campaigns. Their bots / reviewers usually come from Singapore, at least for my campaigns.
The problem here is not that bots / reviewers check campaign links, that's a common practice.
The problem here is that those clicks are (presumably) showing in campaign stats and we are being charged.

You're right, I was thinking of it backwards.
