Excluding more then 1000 pubs Outbrain
Hi Guys,
Does somebody know how to exclude more then 1000 pubs in Outbrain? I want to work with a short list of 20 pubs that are performing good.
How do you guys make sure you are using the right pubs that are working for you each time you make a new campaign?
Many thanks!
Mitch

You can't exclude 1000 pubs, but you can do a whitelist instead. Set a minimum CPC bid on the campaign level, and increase bids for sections that you want.

Yeah 2x what @jupiter said - I would try that first.
If you do want to actually blacklist a ton of pubs and try that, I would request an additional sub-account from your rep to try it in, as it might conceivably 'break' the internal algo's if you blacklisted that many, and I think they need to manually increase the limit of sections you can blacklist anyway.
We usually go through once every quarter looking at all Sections with 'All Campaigns' selected, viewing the data in aggregate, and block all the bad ones. Or on the Publisher level, as that is a little less time-consuming since multiple sections per publisher.
I'd guess we only have 5% of them blocked at max though, but I agree, it is nice/would be nice to just target your best 20 or so sections sometimes.

Outbrain allows me to exclude a maximum of 1000 pubs:

How do I setup a whitelist for the 20 pubs that I extract from a export?

Just bid 0.03 cpc and increase the cpc on your whitelist like mentioned above.
But to be honest, if you have to block so many sites to be profitable, your offer or ads/lp is the problem.
I'd change offer/lp or just don't run on that country.
Also as you block more sites, you may see these whitelist sites are not performing as well as you run RON, this happens on every native traffic source.

Thanks for your feedback and tip. I will keep this in mind with my new campaigns.

Thanks Jack! Will keep this in my mind when building new campaigns. I guess this strategy counts for every native source
