Old FB pages (7)

Old FB pages

Some years ago I used to built FB pages for fun (around 2014 I guess) .
Not really with a purpose, just to see if I could grow them without a cost.
At that time worked really well.

Still have those pages and I think all together they have like +100.000 fans (all one small country)
(some 14K, other 4K,...).

one example: 'you can never have enough shoes...'
a page about ... shoes, 95% women
But also really stupid stuff that was funny back then and now just a bit weird

They all got to be 'community pages' and that was also the moment the game of building FB-pages got a lot harder.

Question now is: could I use these in some way?

Any value in them?
After ignoring them for years (and I mean YEARS), could I get them easily 'alive and kicking' to send some traffic to a site?
Or are they just something extra on the 'internet cemetary'?
Will FB be a party pooper, making this not worth it?

Thx for any tips.

J

sell it to someone who has time to manage it.

In my experience, based on a few FB pages that I have built, once abandoned they pretty much die and the engagement goes to shit, literally. The organic reach has been on a steady decline anyways and with pages that do not post new stuff, it's even worse. Quite a big part of those FB accounts that followed/liked the pages will be inactive too by now.

But it's easy to find out, try to post something on those pages, some images or videos or just share something to them... you will see how bad it really is. Maybe some of those pages could still be brought back to life.

Perhaps run shoe affiliate ads via the FB page. Or create a website with similar (domain)name as FB page and monetize a shoe blog. Combine it with weekly content on the FB page and maybe you can revive it a bit.

I think I could test this.

I have the old FB pages, I have a blog about 'money and budget' and an local affiliate network account with 'shoe advertisers'.
strangely never connected all these dots...

Couldn't hurt to set up some posts on an rainy sunday and see what happens...

Affiliate links don't seem to have a big reach compared to standard quality posts. I'm following a few big bloggers who drop affiliate links/products on a regular basis on their FB pages and these are usually lower in engagement, but when done correctly they still have solid reach. From what I can tell, it depends a lot on what they post. If it's a common product, the engagement is low, but when they hit something special and out of the ordinary it can work well, especially when the followers start to share it. So don't just post some random stuff, try to find something that's unique.

Honestly, it all depends on how active the pages are, the niches and their main geos.
If you have large active pages with a "tier 1" fanbase (usa, aus, can,sa etc):

You can sell shout-outs starting up to $20 to $100+ per post. Sites like Shout Cart etc specialize in that or some Facebook groups.

You could use the pages to grow groups and Instagram pages for free. And just like that, you have 2 additional income streams.

You could approach small companies about promoting their products or services (go to etsy, Amazon, Google to find small business partners)

You could build a viral blog monetize it with Adsense (Mediavine, Ezonic,) and pair with Native. eg- Rev Content (Tabolaa, OutBrain).

You could build a ton of email lists ...

Or you could try selling them outright!

As for affiliate offers, if you have fun pages catering to a general audience use sweepstakes, Also, e-com, drop shipping do well depending on niche. Hope this helps!!
