Trafficsource Review: Targeleon
Welcome to the first thread in my trafficsource review series.
Today I want show you a trafficsource that I know about for some time already but I never ran campaigns there so I decided to use it for my first review.
Targeleon
Ad Formats: Pops, Push, Native, InPage, Calendar
Bid Models: CPM, CPC
Minimum Deposit: $50
Payment Options: Wire, Webmoney, Paxum, PayPal
Other Features: Traffic estimator
Let´s start with a general overview about the platform.
On Targeleon you can buy Pops, Push, Native, InPage and Calendar traffic.
The interface itself looks clean and is good to navigate.
On the dashboard you see an overview of clicks and spending.
The next menu item is the traffic estimator.
There you can choose the timeframe that you want to check, you can also select if you want to get stats for desktop or mobile traffic and you can select the ad format.
You can also filter the stats for specific geos.
For the next item you have a dropdown where you can select between listing your existing campaigns or creating a new campaign.
In the campaign listing you have a table with info about your campaigns like IDs, name, balance (more about it later), creatives, status (active or paused) and a menu where you can edit, copy and delete your campaigns or go directly to the reports for a specific campaign.
In the campaign creation you set the usual things like name, geo, operating system and so on.
You can also choose the subscription age for Push traffic.
Additional you can include or exclude lists with Source IDs, IPs and ISPs depending if you want to blacklist or whitelist them.
This is a little bit different to many other trafficsources.
Usually you include or exclude items like placements or ISPs directly in the campaign setup.
On Targeleon you have a separate menu item for these lists.
You can either list your existing lists or create a new one.
When you list them you see them in a table where yolu can select them to add or delete items from the list.
At this point they are neither blacklists nor whitelists, they are just lists with items and depending if you include or exclude these lists during campaign creation they become blacklists or whitelists.
Then you have a report tab where you can get stats about your campaigns by date, by campaign, by country, by ISP or by source.
The reports can be filtered then by timeframe and by campaign.
The last menu item is for finance, there you find your payments as well as contact info and the avilable payment options.
While I write this review there is temporary no credit card payment possible but PayPal worked.
When you are vigilant you will probably ask yourself „why did he say last menu item, what about creatives?“ and you are completely right, we didn´t see creatives yet.
The creatives are not added directly on the campaign creation page.
You first create a campaign, set targeting and the usual basics and then you save the campaign without setting a specific ad format yet.
From the campaign overview you can continue then to add creatives for your campaigns.
There you can choose then between creatives for Pops, Push, Native, InPage and Calendar
With such setup you can run different ad formats in one campaign.
You only set the targeting once and only have to add a new creative when you want to run an additional ad format for that targeting.
But let me tell you something, I am too used to my setups that I still just run one ad format per campaign
That´s all about the platform so far, in the next part I tell you about my test campaigns and how they performed.
Test Execution And Results
For the tests I used a budget of $100 (better said $97 after Paypal fees).
I had 3 good and stable converting offers so that at least one of them should show good results when the traffic is good.
For each offer I created a separate push campaign where I targeted by geo, high user activy and Android, then I added creatives and wondered where I can set a daily budget.
Answer: You can´t
Instead you add money to the campaign and it will be spent until the campaigns balance is empty.
In the same popup you can also take budget away from campaigns, it will be added back to your account balance then.
It´s a bit different from what I am mostly used to but I know it from other platforms as well.
Here are the results from the first tests:
Campaign 1 Cost: $43.75
Campaign 1 Revenue: $54.58
Campaign 2 Cost: $17.28
Campaign 2 Revenue: $18.52
Push KZ Campaign 1 Cost: $15.65
Campaign 2 Revenue: $6.94
Then I wanted to run a quick test on other ad formats as well and created 1 campaign for InPage traffic and 1 campaign for Native:
InPage Campaign Cost: $12.93
InPage Campaign Revenue: $1.83
Native Campaign Cost: $5.38
Native Campaign Reenue: $0.93
One thing that I noticed then on the InPage and Native campaign was that they both had pretty high trafficloss, I hadn´t that problem with the Push campaigns.
InPage Clicks Trafficsource: 4313
InPage Clicks Tracker: 2288
Native Clicks Trafficsource: 2690
Native Clicks Tracker: 1603
We shouldn´t forget that I never ran campaigns on Targeleon before so I started without any BL/WL at all and when I see the results from the Push campaigns I am confident that the performance from InPage and Native would also increase after some optimization.
All in all I am pretty happy with the test results.
Summary:
Let´s forget the InPage and Native campaigns for a moment and have a look at the Push campaigns because these were my inital tests and the ad format that was most interesting/important for me to test.
There we can see that 2 out of 3 campaigns are profitable.
This paired with the fact that I started RON without any experience on Targeleon I have to say that these tests were better than I expected so my first impression of the platform is really positive.
In the Push campaigns I also targeted only High user activity and also used a pretty low bid, with a broader targeting and higher bid I am confident that the volume would also increase a good bit.
With some optimization and considering that the traffic quality stays that good it could lead to some really nice campaigns.
Although the first stats from InPage and Native doesn´t look that good we should keep in mind that it was only a very small and quick test.
When I exclude the placements with the highest trafficloss I could imagine that these ad formats could work good as well.
The process to create campaigns is a bit different compared to many other platforms.
- You don´t add elements to BL/WL directly in the campaigns, you rather create lists for it and then include or exclude these lists
- You don´t add the creatives in the campaign setup directly, you rather create neutral campaigns without specific ad format and you can add creatives from different ad formats then to your campaigns
- You don´t set a daily budget to your campaigns, you rather add budget to your campaigs that gets deducted from your account funds
It´s true that these things are different from what I am usually used to but it´s not that dramatic and I could work with it very good.
I also didn´t test the pop traffic so I can´t tell anything about it but maybe I test it in future as well.
Minimum deposit on Targeleon is only $50 so when you have a good performing campaign it doesn´t cost much to run a quick test there, if you don´t have a good campaign and want to try a new trafficsource where you don´t have to deposit that much money you can do it there as well.
My final conclusion is that Targeleon offers a good variety of different ad formats and I received good quality traffic at reasonable bids so based on my first experience with the platform I give it a Thumbs Up!
If you don´t run campaigns on Targeleon yet it could be worth it to give it a try, you can sign up at

Good question, I don´t see any volume for pops so it probably needs to be tested

Very nice! I love this thread. There must be so many traffic sources out there but nobody takes the time to test them. You're really helping the members with these threads, keep it coming

Thanks, and there´s much more to come.
The next tests are already running.
Btw, my AM from Targeleon messaged me today and gave me API access so that campaign optimization through API is possible.
Will implement it in my scripts when I have time for it and run more campaigns on Targeleon then.

Every traffic source has traffic from Brazil

What traffic type are you looking for exactly?

I publish nutra offers and some offers
online casino, I like ads to appear on news sites, which is where it converts best.

News websites usually monetize through Native ad networks... so Outbrain, Taboola, Revcontent, Content.ad... or use a platform that connects several native networks, such as voluumDSP... But nutra and online casino are verticals that some of these networks do not like, you will have to check the TOS of each particular network to see if they allow such offers to be promoted.
