Hi Guys,
Trying to break into a new niche, which is doing very well for me on SEO traffic but I think some paid traffic would help a lot too.
The product I am currently pushing is generic viagra. The conversion rate on targeted traffic is insane, but when I run a generic ad on traffic junky (video A/B) I get a really bad CTR and 0 conversions.
Any idea what pre-lander I could use? For my SEO traffic it goes straight to the page, so there is no pre-lander needed.
When trying to spy on landers with adplexityadult, I can only find dick enlargement landers but nothing that fits my niche.
Any with ads + landers and which traffic source to try would be greatly appreciated
I've done well in the PE niche on SEO traffic as well (in the past) with comparison sites that compared various PE products. Penis extenders were the most lucrative for me - worth considering adding those to your current site if they aren't already.
As for Adplexity: I just went to Adplexity Adult and typed in "pills" and got a bunch of results. For example the one below.

Looks like one of the destination links is to erectin.com. Worth noting is that it has an entry pop that contains some relevant survey questions:

So for a product page like this, direct-linking from ad to product page could work. And if your particular product doesn't have a survey pop-up like this, you can grab one of the thousands of survey-style landers from Adplexity and customize it with questions similar to the ones above. (Maybe not as many questions, and try having fewer answers.)
Personally I haven't really run PE heavily on paid traffic, but I did briefly run on native traffic and made small profits before I decided to exit the adult niche. I think it was revcontent I was running on - don't know if they allow adult stuff these days but I'm sure you can find out.
Hope that helps.
Amy
Paid traffic is a completely different beast from organic search... when someone searches for viagra alternatives, they are already willing to buy and the CVR is usually very good, as you can see yourself with the offer you are promoting.
With paid traffic, you gotta grab their attention and make them believe that they need to buy what you offer. Using a quiz as Amy suggested above is a great option. Another alternative I've seen that I believe could work well, was using some kind of "scare" tactics by presenting a story that suggest the person might be at risk of losing their partner due to erection problems. This can be used as the angle on the banner and then send the clicks to a quizz type lander or you can try to build an article/blog post and present the story there.
I have also seen quite a bit of straight to the sales page campaigns for viagra products, the angle used was low price in most cases. By now everyone knows what viagra is and what it does, so a low price angle might work to some extent.
What kind of ads and angles have you tried so far?
There's several outfits running Viagra/generic-Viagra on native right now... some in English and then one in Germany that is absolutely killing it as far as I can tell...
These are fancy 'brands' though that- if I understand right- are actually having folks do consults with doctors, then sending extremely expensive pills to people in fancy little packaging... so its the exact opposite marketing approach to the "extremely cheap generic viagra now" search stuff you would see, where the margins are really small but the vendor is making up for it with huge volume and low customer acquisition cost.
At least that's how I see it... its not a vertical I've ever run or know much about, but I keep seeing tons of ads for it on native so wanted to chime in...
I would be interested to see how the opposite approach (the extremely cheap generic wholesale viagra, etc) would do on native... I guess the angle would be different (playing up the low price) but would be interested to see if it would work...
Mainstream native ad networks don't allow adult offers. Are they running it on MGID, adblade...type of stuff?
Thanks for all the replies and the tips with the lander ! @jack_l exoclick and tj seem to be fine with the indian off-brand stuff. Only had some ads refused but not the actual offer.
Dick enlargement pill has huge market in india. I have 2 friends who are selling these pills at massive scale(in india) on exoclick traffic.
Such offers do good on pop traffic.
Many years ago I made some nice money selling RX stuff through direct linked campaigns on untargeted adult traffic (chokertraffic).
I guess when the product is good then it should work on most adult traffic as long as it´s not total crap.
I remember that dude, he was quite a character
@matuloo Yup it's been few years.
The traffic was cheap, the product was edgy so I just spotted a change and tested and it worked
Also i have 1 friend who has listed several dick enlargement offers in major affiliate networks..and he has admitted to me many times that he does 20% shaving of leads.
As long as the scrub rate is low it doesn't matter much, but once it crosses certain level it starts to cause problems with optimization. Personally, I prefer a scrub free offer with a bit lower payout all the time, but the market is what it is...
I used to promote penis enlargement cream(offer) on push traffic a long time ago, but soon my computer was flooded with multiple dick pics and i found it awkward(as i work from co-working space). So, i didn't want people to think that i am some gay dude who's binging on dick pics.
So, i didn't pursue it that much.
Though such offers do convert well in Latam geos.
Paid traffic for this niche only needs to be semi-decent as long as you find the correct formula for each GEOs.
As suggested above, quizes do well with translation for every country on your LPs and most likely you will find native ads to provide the highest CR on it.
We have advertisers on our end doing well on push, but only on T2 and T3 GEOs. I wouldn't risk T1 on pops or push, frankly.
Another idea would be to check which networks have direct traffic from big adult tubes.
There is some great info in this thread.
"D pills" are what I'm dealing with all day, every day so I have a few thoughts to pass along. In fact, the product that Amy showed belongs to our network. Also, she mentioned extender products... they are still very popular today, in fact one of our top offers last month.
The most successful affiliates are targeting keywords (both on SEO and PPC) for an audience that already know they want to buy something, they just don't know WHAT they want to buy.
Review-related terms are always a hit, and knowing copywriting will help you put together a comprehensive review that doesn't just blow smoke up a consumer's ass saying "this supplement is PERFECT!"
An objective review will weigh the positives and negatives of a product. Consumers are smarter than most people give them credit for
I'll also add that buying traffic for D pills CAN be tough, especially on adult.
Our marketing team's cost-per-acquisition on the product shown here (Erectin) is high, but they are buying media for branding purposes so our affiliates can benefit from the search volume.
The "quiz" that Amy shared is part of the way that we're lowering that high cost per acquisition & helping affiliates, since once an affiliate brings in someone who drops in their email, the affiliate ID gets tagged to that email and when they eventually buy, the affiliate gets a full commission on the sale.
When I was an affiliate I dealt with networks shaving/scrubbing - it's incredibly frustrating. I encourage every affiliate to use a postback and have CLEAR COMMUNICATION with the networks you're working with.
If you had a sale show up as a conversion, then it disappears from your sales - ASK WHY.
It takes an affiliate manager 2 minutes to go into the CRM and let you know what happened. In our case, 99% of the time it's credit card fraud. Male enhancement/D pills are considered high risk for credit card processing, so we need to watch every transaction carefully to ensure we can continue to process the volume we do.
Again, it's all about transparency - so ask questions. You're not "bothering" your affiliate manager by asking them about traffic sources. They want you to succeed and want to earn your traffic, so build that relationship.
I'm happy to answer any specific questions you might have via chat, but I'll be following this thread since it's relevant to my interests.
Hi @sellhealthg Nice to see posts from you guys! I've promoted your network's products in the past - many years ago when I was still doing SEO. (99.99% of the sales were made from penis extenders from other networks though so I hardly brought you guys any sales.)
Thanks for all the insight from a network's perspective! They're valuable, coming from a network that has so many years of experience in the health (including ME) niche.
Regarding scrubbing/shaving: Having been in the affiliate industry for a number of years, I have close friends that know what goes on behind the scenes at affiliate networks. I haven't heard anything shady about SellHealth, and would never point fingers at any specific network, but let's just say I've heard enough horror stories on how some networks would manipulate numbers to maximize their profits.
Scrubbing is sometimes justified, as traffic quality can vary widely, and would typically happen after the conversions are made. There would usually be a discussion between the network and the affiliate. Often, it's up to the network to decide how many of the conversions they want to pay out to the affiliate.
Shaving on the other hand is often done automatically, e.g. the network can decide what percentage of conversions actually shows up on the affiliate dashboard (and in turn posted back to the tracker). There's really no way for the affiliate to find out whether this is going on or not, and to what extent, as we don't own the offer page.
I'm not saying that affiliate networks are evil. We affiliates aren't angels either and some of us can pull off really shady stuff as well.
At the end of the day, the ideal network-affiliate relationship will maximize profits for BOTH the network AND the affiliate. And networks and affiliates that are in this industry for the long haul are more likely to fit the bill. The scammy networks never last long - because affiliates aren't stupid. And we talk among ourselves.
This is why testing offers from different networks (and running direct from advertiser where possible) is so important. Affiliates shouldn't need to speculate whether shaving/scrubbing is happening and how much. We only need to let the numbers speak, and go with the offer that nets us the most profits.
Worth pointing out is that the most profitable offer isn't necessarily the one with the highest payout. When I was a newbie I would strive to meet the next volume requirement just to get that next pay bump, only to experience a sudden drop in conversion rate directly after. After a few times it finally dawned on me what was happening.
There are some really amazing good guys in this industry for sure. But at the same time, where there's a lot of money at stake, you will see shady stuff happen - as money can bring out the worst in some people.
So - while I agree that transparency and close communication with affiliate managers can be good, I must warn fellow affiliates to always exercise SOME caution.
Affiliates: Be careful not to let a network or an AM string you along with sweet talk or future promises, if your numbers aren't backing out and there are red flags that your AM won't/can't explain.
Sorry for the long rant! The topic struck a nerve.

@vortex - Amy you nailed it!
There is so much shady stuff that takes place in the affiliate marketing space, I should have definitely added the caveat - "Don't believe anything on face value."
Excellent insight & advice.
