Creating Pixels and Priming Your Events

Hey all,

We've had a number of users of FunnelFlux Pro asking us for help with our TikTok integration, and in particular dealing with the new pixel creation UI + being able to choose events in campaign creation.

Unless your event is active, it won't appear in the TikTok ad creation UI, which is a bit of an annoying chicken and egg situation if its a new pixel or you're wanting to optimise for some new standard event that hasn't yet fired.

To solve this I made a nifty little page for priming your events, verifying pixels if using the standard approach, and testing events. You can read the full article here.

Quick Summary

⏩ If you are making a new pixel, choose the developer mode. The standard mode expects you to make URL/click matching rules for making events happen, and it doesn't let you fire the events directly in code (it doesn't seem to pick them up as active event types in their pixel settings and campaign creation when you do this). If you want to do things like "fire this TikTok event when users click this button", just invest time in learning to use Google Tag Manager -- it is well worth the quite easy learning curve.

⏩ Bookmark this magical page I created for you:

Code:
https://test-resources.funnelflux.pro/tiktok/pixel-test.html?pixel=XXX
⏩ In the above URL, replace XXX with your pixel ID. On loading the page, it should show that pixel ID in the page text.

Now you're ready to do a few useful things...

A: If you make a standard pixel, you can use this URL (with the XXX replaced!) as the URL to verify your pixel installation

B: If you load this page, you can then spam each button 4-5x to prime your pixel with every standard event. Wait a few minutes and refresh the pixel details page and you should see all your events there, and they will now all be "active" in the pixel event dropdown during ad creation, so you can pick any of them.

C: You can use this URL in the pixel settings > test events tab to generate a QR code, then load on your mobile device and click all the buttons. You should see all the test events coming in. Note these won't prime your pixel I believe, they are just for debugging.

That's all, hope this tool helps! With it, you should be able to create a new developer-mode pixel and have it fully primed for all events within minutes.

... what pixel pages should look like hehehe
