The Optimizer 🤯 (6)

The Optimizer 🤯

I'm hoping any "The Optimizer" experts may be able to help...

Do you know if there is any way to merge the data from two campaigns?

I have been running a campaign with certain rules like "when spent 1 x payout with zero conversions - pause widget"

However, I have decided to duplicate the campaign to try a different bidding strategy.

But it's just dawned on me that all my previous data is now wasted.

As I will be starting from scratch with the same widgets that already had spend but not enough to trigger a rule.

Hope that makes sense.

or if anyone knows a way around it, that would be great.

Thanks

Thanks for the tag @matuloo!

@affiliated4 here's a step by step breakdown of the process that should help you.

Step 1:
Go to your initial campaign > widget reporting

Step 2: Filter down the widget reporting by Blocked Widgets (make sure you have selected the maximum reporting date range to show the blocked widgets recorded in TheOptimizer)

Step 3: Select all blocked widgets, then click on Create SmartList

Step 4: In the Create Smart List screen, add the new campaign in the "Campaigns reading from list" and specify any rules you may want to automatically populate the list.

Step 5: Assign a name to your SmartList and save it.

Once you have finished creating the smart list, it will sit there with the list of blocked publishers from your previous campaign, and block any of those publishers that show up in campaigns that are using this smart list.

I would strongly recommend to organize smart lists by any major campaign variation like Geo / Vertical / Device / Conversion flow / OS. This way your smart lists will be much better organized for later reuse.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

thanks a lot for your detailed reply @platinum - it does help with blocked widgets...

However, I'm more concerned about widgets that were not blocked but already spent a chunk of cash. These will be missed by the smartlist/blacklist.

for example...

If my orginal campaign has rule "$100 spend & 0 conversions- pause widget"

I may have lots of widgets that have spent $90 with 0 conversions.

Then I duplicate the campaign and pause the original (because I bidded too high & messed up the algorithm)

now my new campaign, does not know I spent $90 on some widgets. So the rules will start from zero.

Meaning some widgets would have spent $190 overall, before the optimizer rule kicked in.

I'm just wondering how you get around that, as I'm guessing people duplicate campaigns a lot.

Thanks again, for taking the time to reply - it's very much appreciated

@affiliated4 just recorded a short video with further explanation on an additional alternative.

Hope it's easier this way!
