$330 in less than 20 minutes gone (20)

$330 in less than 20 minutes gone

So i just tried a diet offer on sitescout with only one banner. I just wanted to test the volume of traffic on three specific sites.

I stepped away for 20 minutes and came back to $330 cost,1400 clicks,0.56% ctr and zero conversions...

I added my daily cap to $20 but forgot to turn it on (dumbass)..

Checking in quantcast and the main site gets 16m hits per month...

Has anyone else experienced this before in sitescout?

if you would have targeted their pagerank/facetheme placements you could have spend even more :-) but 1400 clicks without a conversion is really bad

Out of curiosity -- what CPM bids did you set?

OMG.

What was your targeting? Did you target any specific sites? Chaneels? Or was it goold old RON campaign?

0,20 cpc's are pretty good..did you check if anything was okay with the traffic? no bot traffic/duplicate ips etc...?

Well, even if there are bots - they could be eventually filtered out. I mean not the IPs of bots but rather placements where shitty traffic is coming from

I'd say chiefsurf is somewhat lucky he only spent $330. But, I'd also say he could have spent it a bit differently

I don't know what placements you were testing but be careful with their celebrity traffic. That stuff is very poor quality.

I posted a thread a little while back about the same thing, turned out I was getting bot traffic on SiteScout.

I emailed my rep about it three times but never got a reply.

$330 spend without a conversion isn't uncommon. Could just be the type of traffic that doesnt really convert, i've seen it many many times before. Lucky you came back in 20min

orrr bot traffic (just saw hannah's post^). Its' common on media buys from shitty sites/publishers trying to scam the system

I found that out the hard way, was getting some great ctr's/conversions but didn't back out sadly

Did you direct link to a rebill and expect it to convert?

Honestly things that involve a user to whip out their credit card you have to do better than DL you need a lander.

This was my main concern.. i do not care really to lose money on real non converting traffic for testing purposes... It's when i start to lose it on scams or bots that pisses me off...

I did DL and hoped for something.. but now i know a LP is needed for this type of offer..

I'm feeling your pain brother. I blew $198 without a conversion. Strange thing was I had the Daily budget capped to $40. But I think with a bunch of high traffic sites it will over spend a little on each, and before you know it, there goes $200.

Lesson learned hehe.

ya and one more word of advice when setting up camps....set the daily spend to $5....most cases it wont send any traffic at all....or very little...sometimes even setting at $10 can cause huge overspends on high traffic sites

Ouch! I concur with everyone here that's its good you came back to it in 20 min. That's one of the sucky parts on media buying through an ad network. Once the traffic is flowing sometimes it takes a while to shut off after the limit has been reached. Ran into this a few times over the last with different traffic sources.

Yup, stackmans right the problem here was the direct link! Definitely dont DL to rebills, health offers, etc.
