I am trying to update and add posts to an old blog, but get an error. Help!
I am trying to update an old inactive blog with half a dozen posts and adding new posts. Literally just starting it all over again, but get this error: "Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response." Deleted the couple of plugins it had and it helped for a bit and now it is showing the same error. Refreshed with the updates - does not seem to help. Please can anyone help?

Is this blog running on Wordpress? Where is it hosted?
Without knowing any detail, it seems something related to permalinks:

And the "must ask" question... is everything updated with the CMS you are using?

I "tried." But it did not seem to work. I deleted all the plugins. I may just remove everything and reinstall wordpress and the theme on the domain as I have nothing to lose and if there no quick fix for this. I had not logged in for several months. Did a few posts and then abandoned it.

Have you tried some of the fixes recommended in WP troubleshooting articles? Quite a lot of them mention the permalink or url structure, as johncarlof suggested in his first reply.
Check this for example:

If I get stuck again, I will delete everything and start fresh again.
