Native Affiliate's Biggest Terror: The Algorithm

Sup my G's, Sup my Jedi Master's.

Many of you already know me from a plethora of accounts created with the 1 month discount code.

For the sake of didactics I will be providing the audible content for this thread.

First off all,

Welcome to my world!

It is a great pleasure to be in the presence of those who raised me and gave me wings.

So...This thread will be a confessional, despite having some experience with taboola I never understood the algorithmism itself.

Yesterday for example, after making some optimizations in the campaign I had the following results:

Ok...

The optimization was in some cities, OS, OS Types...

Until I realized that I accidentally checked the ''wi-fi only'' option.

Like a good soldier I waited for the day to end before unchecking the option, so I increased my range for future optimizations in the campaign..

WRONG...

I couldn't predict that with the approval of my other campaigns with device type variation (Desktop, Mobile, Tablet) would influence the main campaign performance, including the speed of spending the daily budget.

and then, in this morning i woke up looking at this kind of shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit:

After punishing myself a bit by banging my head a few times on the wall this morning, I went after the rescue through the STM threads.

~lol, just kidding...not the head from above, but the head from below on a beautiful maiden's uterus wall

It's hard not to wake up like this in the country with the most beautiful womens in the world.~

Are u guys good in math??

Lets find out !

To recap:

The green campaign went away just as hulk ran from the experiment lab like this:

and now i got it:

I want this to happen:

and this one WINS! :

So i searched for my salvation in some threads.

Find some good quotes from @platinum in this post: https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...Taboola-s-Algo

Like this one:

''When duplicating camps on Taboola, better use slightly different variations of images (even zoomed in images can do the trick) or headlines. Otherwise going for the same exact targeting, images and headlines within the same Taboola account will likely have campaigns compete with each other.

Optionally you can try to create identical clones of the same campaign on another subaccount, but there it depends how the other subaccount is setup in terms of targeting (maybe optimized per a different vertical or geo), as well as account level site blocking.''

.
.
.

I've already made a decision based on this theory, wanting in a way to validate it for me.

so I paused the campaigns and put them under analysis in another account.

I'll let the algorithm decide what's going to happen with the campaign to find out whether or not he's my friend

But here I will draw some conclusions to be discussed during this FA.

But here I will draw some conclusions to be discussed during this FA.

  • Having restricted the main campaign was great, it brought profit, but it reduced the reach ($350 spend of $1000 daily budget).

  • But also after unchecking the option ''Wi-fi Only'' I noticed that today the campaign is spending at the same speed as yesterday. (lol, since you don't have more reach, shouldn't you spend more?)

  • I believe that the main campaign did not bring profits because it ended up competing with the new ones.

  • I also noticed that every time the algorithm causes a drastic influence on conversions, it takes a while for the campaign to go back to normal.

  • and also that every time algorithm changes occur, they are consequences of baseline campaign changes (add images, change bid, increase daily budget, optimizations, etc).

  • Hope u guys use this thread as a confessional for your experiments with platform optimization algorithms that take away our control over our own campaigns...

The beater of heads in the wombs of the maidens, thanks you guys for the attention.

    Also...

You can curse me for making any kind of nonsense about the campaign, I don't have much experience despite having good numbers.

But be kind cursing me... I've punished myself a lot by hitting my head against the walls.......

Lol great post man

You're way more analytical than me though... I just have a shrine in the corner of the room where I pray to the algo gods to look favorably upon me
