I'm starting to use my lander to collect push sub. At the beginning I only intend to run my lander in Pop and as explained in the Vortex tutorial, the lander domain name is not important because users will not look at it/or not be able to see it anyway, so I've just pick a random domain name. However when I start to use my lander to collect push sub, I notice that my lander will show a message to potential subscribers "mydomain.xyz wants to show notifications" and wonder if the domain name play any role in subscription rate ? Do you think a professional .com domain will have a higher subscription rate than my current random domain ? If yes, can you suggest any good domain name vertical which have higher rate of subscription.
People do not care about domain names all that much anymore, especially on mobile where the full path isn't really displayed anyways.
I have even done some tests in the past, comparing the results with LPs hosted on com domains VS just using a CDN "url" which equals to just some random chain of characters. The difference was minimal, sometimes I even had better results with the random chain. However, this was regular desktop banner traffic so I wouldn't say it has to be the same with push traffic, especially with a setup where you try to collect the subs.
As twinaxe mentioned above, domains are cheap so it's likely a good idea to simply buy a good domain or two and go with that, so you don't have to question the effectivity of a randomly chosen one. The effect won't be big for sure, but you will have one less variable to worry about.
