Spy With James 'Google' Bond & Protect Your Assets

Hopefully this will help you in two ways:

1) to get some inspiration for campaigns
2) to learn how to protect yourself

Here is a simple way to spy on what affiliates are doing online. No need to buy expensive tools like WhatRunsWhere or Adbeat or PPVSpy to get ideas for landing pages.

Just use your friend - Google.

If your campaign is listed here - sorry. Take better care and use some protection next time you make love to your tracker

Check the guide below (Step 4) about what you could do to avoid being listed by google.

Step 1 - Find Tracking URLs

Try the following Google Searches:

Code:
inurl:"/base.php?c=" +"key="
inurl:"/dl.php?t202id="
If you want more recent result, use the tools in the google sidebar to only show you results from say the last month.

Step 2 - Get the landing pages

Then just click through the url's until you find some landers that you like.

Example:
This search - inurl:"/base.php?c=" +"key="
Showed this site in number two
http://sxitracker.com/cpv/base.php?c...5284c&keyword=

Which redirects to here:
http://samsreviewsite.com/FBquizyou/?engsec=3

Doesnt that look familiar?

Step 3 - See whats else is hosted on that domain

Take the domain and use it in the following searches:

allinurl:"domain"
site:"domain"

Step 4 - Protect Yourself

This is not a guaranteed protection, but it will keep most of your stuff safe for a while.

Remove your sites from the search engines

No idea whether this works and how quickly. But its worth a shot.

Yahoo:

Robot.txt

Create a simple text file in your root folder for your domain or subdomain, and include the following text:

Code:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
Metatags

Code:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow, noarchive, nosnippet" />
X-Robots-Tag: noindex Header

Here is the guide for apache on how to modify your server headers:

I normally only use the robots.txt which will prevent your landers get indexed and so they can't be found via Google. Thanks for this post, some good stuff in here

Yeah I usually use the noindex/nofollow on my landing pages. Thanks for the tips though, I'm pretty useless at that side of things.

If your building with wordpress the thesis theme has lots of functionality for no follows / no index /meta tags built in and you van pimp that bad boy to any layout format, style or setup you want, then copy that master setup instantly to any age or any new site
