Push Script / Solution for 1M Subscribers and growing? (11)

Hello,

I have used pusher, onesignal and pretty much every other solution but they get very pricey with the amount of subscribers collected.
We are receiving around 50k new subscribers a day and every solution out there wants to charge an arm and a leg for it.

For the long-term plan we put a dev team to custom build a solution for us but that is still 8-10 weeks out from being usable.

Can you recommend a solution for the short-term that also let's you export your subscribers? Most solutions out there make a big deal out of it.

If you know about services that monetise the subscribers as they come in and take a percentage, please post them as well. Considering all options as I feel we are overpaying and leaving money on the table right now.

As a programmer and at that scale I'd say your only options are Firebase or writing everything yourself.

The long-term play is to write it all out from scratch though.

That's what we are working on (firebase) and writing the whole thing from scratch. It's just very time intensive.

For the short-term it seems impossible to find a company to monetise my subscribers and let me export them when I want.

Maybe a niche someone wants to tap into?

Also, what do you want to achieve by exporting the subscriber data? Will you use it for analyzing your subscriber base?

Since I have collected them, I want to have ownership over my data. So if I run with one platform and decide to switch to another and can't take my existing subscribers with me, I am losing my entire database or being held hostage by the previous provider.

Hi David,

My team built a custom solution for push notifications.

May pains:
- We don't know if our solution is good enough or not. Maybe we are leaving money on the table because our solution is not good enough for some devices or our push notifications get blocked and we don't know.
- There is very little (and bad) documentation on how push subscription work.

8-10 weeks sounds like a lot to have a PoC working to be honest. But maybe your are planning the build the ultimate push subscription system.
I would suggest that you build something very simple and it should get done in 1 week of dev work. It would be easier than finding a solution that allow you to export your tokens and doing it.
