2021 CBO Question requiring a 2021 answer
hi guys,
is the pool (or some call it pocket) theory still relevant today?
meaning to use multiple adset for the exact same setup inorder to find the pool with the best ROI.
Does that still work when today we are using CBO and Power 5 (dynamic creatives, automatic placement etc) to let fb's ML and AI optimise for us?
previously had a convo with Vortex on another thread where she mention FB may test different pools within the same adset so it is not so important to open up different adsets anymore to find the best pool within an interest.
any thoughts on this to share?

i still find facebook gives very different results do different ad set duplicates, so yes in my experience the pocket theory is still relevant

My fb rep tells me low or high budget doesnt matter. I found most succes with high budgets on CBO, not on low personally. But others might experience different.

How to do you currently "test pools" with CBO?
So basically you open a cbo campaign, open like e.g 5 adsets (of the same thing, i.e same interest , same ads) and let cbo decide itself which "pool" is the best and auto allocate budget?
Is this how u do?

Same! Was just talking about this with another member in another thread. I don't have conclusive evidence that higher budgets always works better for CBOs, but have experienced more success with some of my campaigns.

Would like to see what @
stickupkid says, but based on my personal understanding and experience, the answer is yes.
The key though is that the ad (and the rest of the funnel) needs to be generating conversions. Otherwise, the algo would have no way of knowing which pool is better.
Like I've just mentioned in another thread (I LOVE coincidences!), if I'm testing 5 adsets x 3 ads/adset = 15 audience pools and most/none is generating conversions after, say, 2-3x payout per adset in spend - then it would probably be safe to conclude that the scaling attempt has flopped.
