Account Disable Outbrain

Hi Guys, im newbie and i got my Outbrain account disabled without know the reason, they have a terrible costumer support and bad service as well, 48 hours to review any campaign...

My 2 campaigns that i launched at the same time:

1) sedo parking domain ( search feed keywords)
2) Free Airpods just pay shipping ( i inserted my affiliate link no tracker) ( campaing not approved)

At least they should refuse the campaigns, disable the whole account forever seems very evil.

Just to get your opinion, why they disabled my account when i see 90% of misleading offers on native ads? i think my offers are normal?
if i open new account they banned me?

Before opening a new account, try to solve this with their support... that's always the better way, even though it might take some time.

As for why they disabled your account, hard to say without knowing more. I'm not running native myself, but let me tag some native experts, they might know more about the particular verticals you have tried... @platinum @jack_l

Have you tried contacting their support and ask for the reason why they disabled your account? If not, I would suggest to do so first, then give them a few days to get back to you.

Regarding the reason, none of the campaigns / offers you mention above seem to be the main cause of disabling your account. I'd put my doubts on the payment methods used to fund your account.

Sometimes if they see suspicious payment methods or things like payment method different from the company registration country, they will most probably disable the account. If this is the case, it's best to notify them before, rather than just go for it and expect nothing like this to happen.

Anyways, I'd check with their support and see what they have to say about it.

Hey @devon99 -

There are a ton of reasons the account could have been disabled, and its very possible that it was disabled based on an algorithm or AI type thing, rather than a human being actually manually flagging it to be disabled.

It could be something totally logistical... that has nothing to do with what you tried running... or, its possible their algorithm wrongly detected that you were trying to engage in "cloaking" or something like that. It could be as simple as accidentally changing the link or landing page after the campaign was approved, where they wrongly thought you were trying to do cloaking. Its also possible your affiliate network has a geo-redirect on and when one of their moderators clicked on the affiliate link they were brought to some other (more aggressive) offer. Or it all could have just been an error on their algorithm's part and nothing to do with you or what you ran at all.

So yeah, I know how frustrating account bans could be, and I still have a massive chip on my shoulder vs google for banning my account for what I felt was no reason back when I was starting out at this, but I would suggest that in this case its very possibly just computer error and nothing more.

So yeah, I would recommend sending them a polite email asking what the problem was, and asking how you can have the account reinstated.

If you have such strong negative feelings about their service and support though, you may just want to move on and find a different network, as you're going to have to work with them closely if you want to succeed on the network, and its no fun trying to work with a company you dislike.

Either way good luck!

@devon99 This - what platinum said - I think that's the most likely reason- again though only way to find out is to email them.

Hi Guys thanks for you help, yesterday they reply back that there nothing to do. But now im reading the Jack post and i i think i know the reason
On the campaign i was targeting 100% US people , but the network when outside US they redirected the page and may appear sex offers, i had no control on it, but i was targetting 100% US so no problem with redirects, and the person who review this campaign may be outside US... i think may be it? do you think i should sent another message back to outbrain? or if i open other account they will suspend like fb?

Yes, this can be a big problem, I've had several accounts disabled on various networks because of this. With the more sensitive networks, you need to use offers that do not have these "fallback redirects" in place.

When this happened to me, I was able to get the accounts back when I explained what happened, but this was with more lenient networks so not sure how Outbrain would react... I would definitely try it though.

Another approach would be to filter untargeted traffic for yourself.

If you see that the offer redirects to an aggressive one that goes against the network policy, then you can setup conditional redirects to send the user to a cleaner offer. It could even be a smartlink, but needs to be a clean thing.

Yup, this is one of the options I've been using too... setting up out-of-geo redirects at the tracker level. But still, it has posed problems with some networks as the offer I redirected to was a different one than the original, so when they checked from both the "right" and some other GEO, they would see two different offers and some didn't like it. But it's DEFINITELY a better and more safe solution than doing nothing at all.
