how to SEO different website in the same/similar niche?

Hi,

we have two domains, one for social media agency(B2B) and one for social audience growth (B2C) Saas, both on the same hosting and may have the same/similar topics, keywords to cover.

Just wondering what would be good practices and strategies for SEO of both sites in this case?

Thanks

Do you purposefully want to keep them totally separate? Or no?

It seems like that is the main question... I would presume the more you interlink between the two the better for each SEO-wise, and if they can be very connected than you could pretty much interlink them a ton.

If that's the case though you'd probably be better off just using one domain and having separate pages or subdomains for the two parts of it.

Presuming that's not the case and you definitely want to use two url's, then I think interlinking between the two would be fine. Certainly wouldn't hurt.

I wouldn't write totally duplicate articles though. If you do make them separate I would have the content be pretty specific to each.

I'm not an SEO expert by any means though...

But yeah - do you have competitors who also serve both the B2B and B2C markets? What do they do?

It seems like there would be overlap in the social media world between B2B and B2C, since so many people are amateur online business owners, 'influencers', etc. So that's one reason a single domain seems better to me... but again, I don't know anything about your business or what exactly you're doing.

SEO is VERY expensive/tough though, so if you can combine the two that would definitely save you a lot of time/money, if SEO is something you're really wanting to focus on as a traffic channel.

Edit: If you're looking to learn more about SEO I would recommend Matt Diggity. He's the most knowledgeable person in the space I have encountered.

Hi,
Jack brought it to the point.
I am doing SEO for many years for my websites now.

I don’t know much about your business.
what are doing your competitors? Are there other B2C and B2B businesses out there who are running only such social media B2C OR B2B websites?
You should Analyse your competition and decide after that.

The main question is (like Jack said) if you want to keep them separated or combine them - it depends on your competition, on your time and money.

Doing SEO for two websites is the twice amount of money and twice amount of time.

Never create similar articles on both websites and never do the same linkbuilding. Each website should have a unique link profile and unique articles - specific for your B2C and B2B business.

If you want to keep them separated:
Find niche specific keywords for EACH website and write unique articles for this.

If the content/topic would be very similar for both sites I would better link between the two sites and focus on one site and doing SEO mainly for this site. It saves a lot of money and time and avoids a lot of trouble (same keywords, same content, finding specific backlinks...)

But without knowing much about your company and business:
I would personally prefer creating ONE website of your company with a B2C and B2B section, this would make things A LOT easier in my opinion...
Perhaps it’s an idea putting all content on one website and deleting the other one?

Best
Frank

If you decide to run two domains in parallel, treat them as separate entities but I'm with the guys above me, it might make sense to have one website with two "sections" instead of two separate domains.

But if you wanna go with 2 domains :

- build different links for both, if there is a small overlap that should be fine, but do not have exactly the same external sites linking to both of the domains all the time
- create different content for each website
- interlink naturally. It's fine to link from one domain to the other, when it makes sense but do not try to link from every article.

Look at it this way, you have two domains with maybe the same or very similar layout and source code, both on the same server and maybe even sharing the same IP... if you interlink them heavily, use similar content, similar links, site and page structure etc... it might look fishy and google might view them as duplicate and favor one of them over the other or even label it for an attempt to manipulate rankings.

You should also build social presence for both of the websites, FB, Insta, Linkedin etc... will you have enough content to populate 2 profiles at once?

The more I think about this, the more sense it would make to really have just 1 website. More content on one domain, easier to build the links, more active social profiles... and you can still build dedicated landers for paid campaigns.

I guess that real question here is if you plan to keep those two sites separately and do SEO individually for both of them, or you want to merge them somehow since they belong to the similar niche. If you want to keep them as two sites, the amount of work will duplicate and you would need to find the way to automatize the process in some way so that it doesn't take you too much time. The best way would be to do a keywords research and then work on specific keywords for each site and orientate the content around them. Blog posts could be good solution for generating more traffic and getting the chance to implement more targeted phrases at once, but here you would also think about how to write them quickly or create some kind of a template for them that would allow you to produce more articles at once.
