Follow my poor decision making as I run a push campaign in Indonesia

Day 1 - Monday May 17th


Experience: Worked on various web applications in the affiliate marketing space. 2-3 months of media buying on Facebook, Tiktok, PropellerAds, PopAds, Outbrain for personal companies.
Joined STM earlier this month and trying to learn affiliate marketing as a side hobby.

Traffic Source: PropellerAds
Affiliate: Mobipium
Geo: Indonesia
Carrier: Smartfren
Offers: Mobile Mainstream
Tracker: Binom
Knowledge: Disappointing

Please be a gem and leave me any advice you may have!

The plan is to drive Push traffic from PropellerAds to 10 different offers I've setup and determine which offer is performing best.


I've also created three PropellerAds Push Campaigns with three different bidding strategies.

CPA Goal, CPC and CPM.
I bid way too high on the CPM and spent $3 in a second. Instantly stopped that campaign. I remember reading don't run CPM without a blacklist, it makes sense.

I'm going to kill a campaign if it doesn't convert after 10x spend. My average offer pays $0.20 so I'll be spending $2 and if it doesn't convert, try something else.

I'm also trying to just get stats on my offers and see which one receives the most clicks.





Quick update, been 10 minutes since campaign went live.
I've found that the CPA Goal provides a slower amount of impressions but seems to generate more clicks while CPM can generate thousands of impressions instantly but if your content is shit, nothing will happen. CPC seems to be a happy medium.



I had to stop the CPM campaign as it burned $6 with only 4 clicks, very disappointing. Probably a bad idea regardless.

I think I'm going to make better creatives or mix up the headlines. The goal is to get 5 to 10 conversions right now so I can see if any offers stand out.



I created 3 new campaigns, one with a different Indonesian title and another two with english titles since some of my offers are for learning how to speak english.

I'm going to stop the CPA Goal campaign as it's gone 10x without conversions. Clearly isn't working and only had 60 clicks. I'm not sure if that's a good rate or not but it doesn't feel too great.

I like the cost of the CPC campaign, it's gone 2x over but I'll let it run and I'll probably get a lot more clicks which could convert for my budget test.

The new campaigns are duplicates of the CPC campaign with different creative headlines and descriptions.

Waiting for more stats and hopefully a conversion, if it's similar, I'll be adding more creatives.


Day 2 - Tuesday May 18

Unfortunately this FA was a failure and it's time to start again with a brand new approach.

I have no idea why I didn't get a single conversion worth $0.20 after spending $42 in testing, I feel like I'm doing exactly the same as other tutorials and follow alongs with zero results. Frustrating.

I confirmed on Mobipium that I had sent 2,000 clicks and had zero conversions.

The only offer I've ever had convert so far has been a Canadian casino SOI CPL offer on PerformCB that generated some money for me but never profitable.

Anyways, I'm going back to the drawing board and starting from scratch again. My biggest issue is I have no stats to go off, nothing to optimize, I figured I'd at least get a single conversion but this has been horrible.

The next plan is to try and run my old campaign with more optimizations on a zone whitelist for the Canadian casino offer.
It costs a ton to try and test it but at least it converts data and I can progress with it.

Good luck I will be following. Did you choose this offer or did your AM recommend it to you? I'm always hesitant to run these sort of offers but that's just me. Also I notice you're using Binom, is it good and how much do you pay for vps hosting each month?

My AM recommended these type of offers, I'm trying to do a lower tier geo and test with lower costs. I spent $500 on a Canadian casino CPL but only made $300. Trying to learn a bit more before.

I'm on the free one month trial right now, also used vultr for my host and have spent $1.03 so far

At least it wasn't a complete loss I once spent a few hundred to make back $40 before I learned all the budgeting techniques taught on here. Furthermore I thought vultr didn't work very well on Binom or at least that's what it said on their FAQ's. I assume you're on the $5 a month plan?

$10 a month and it's been running fine for me, even handled 10,000 quick clicks when testing pop ads.
