Some offers have a minimum age as requirement. How do you deal with this? I am thinking of trying an age related question in the pre lander survey and redirecting the users who answer with below x age to a smartlink.
You can basically do 2 things:
1. Setup an age check LP as you suggested, then send the users who don't qualify to a different offer.
2. Ignore the age, send all users to the offer anyways and let the advertisers handle it on their own. Sometimes this result in lower quality but some advertisers don't care that much or they won't credit you for the leads that do not meat the age requirement.
I've done both, sometimes it made sense to exclude the users, sometimes it worked better to simply send them all to the offer.
Keep in mind that whatever age related question you put on the lander, some users won't give you the correct answer or they simply click on anything they see first... so it's not like the age info would be that accurate anyways.
But yes, using the question and sending those that don't have the right age to a different offer is generally the more safe approach.
Out of Matuloo's two options, i would recommend you to go for the #1 .
Option #1 - you optimize your chances not to lose any clicks - this is your best option and my recommendation as well.
Option #2 - indeed, as an advertiser we will not pay for users below 25y.o in Germany, 21y.o in France or 18y.o in Sweden for instance. Because we cannot monetise these leads.
A few things to add up here:
- Having users below the age limit will not be a criteria to rate your traffic quality (at least not with us). We have around 60 "markers" through the user funnel, each with a specific weight in order to qualify the affiliate traffic quality. The age limit is not one of them.
- We are legally not entitled to sell these leads, they are litterally useless to us. We would rather like you to optimize this. A higher epc would keep you happy and optimize my chances that you keep promoting our offers!
- Make sure to ask the advertiser the full list of goes with min age to get paid. Some of them don't do it , will not pay for these leads and would still (illegally) try to monetise these users!
- Some users may not give their real age category. These users would try to fake their registration data anyway with or without the prelander question.
