FOLLOW ALONG: Until I Have A $700 Week goddammit!

It's been about 7 months since I joined STM and nearly 12 months since i knew anything about anything about online marketing and I haven't quite had the results that I wanted by now. So this tells me I need to run a comb over what i'm doing and get some advice and other perspective on what i'm doing /where i'm going wrong so i can get off this plateau. I feel like i've progressed a LOT and heading in the right direction but theres just something not clicking and i can't seem to put my finger on it. I have only been trying PPV....i don't want to jump to PoF/FB/PPC etc until I have this traffic source down....to some degree anyway!

I have had some success and one $100 day with bizopps the first day I ran a new offer then it tanked couldnt get more than 1 conversion/ day after that which was frustrating obviously after being pretty excited about hitting something decent......I feel like my LP side of things is pretty good as i'm able to get pretty good CTR's but feel like something with my finding the right offers/planning/optimization is off and holding me back from really being successful with this shit. So i guess the best thing to do is do another follow along! I'm not putting a time frame on it, i'm doing until this until I average $100/day over 7 days with PPV. However my goal is the by the 15th March - so 6 weeks.

Ok some rules (may add more as I continue)

1) Launch minimum 2 campaigns/day - min 5 days/week. So minimum 10 campaigns/week
2) Post my plan/strategy for all promising campaigns to be analysed
3) Post every optimization move I make (i think one thing i'm doing wrong is making changes to early without enough data and being impatient - we will soon see :-))
4) Post my daily overall stats

So i'm going to initially focus on dating, as it's something i really want to crack and also because the payouts are'nt huge so I can keep my testing budget down and its very scalable to other traffic sources if i get a really good campaign going.

I'm going to keep things kinda simple to start with and test a mature dating offer on mature/seniors dating targets and if get that profitable then scale it by being more creative with my targets. I do already have a bit of data on this but i'm kinda starting from scratch to show my whole process. They haven't converted DL'ed for me very well so i'm going to start w/ 3 LP's and run king of the hill from there. Will run overnight and have some data tomorrow

i was just going to post in my challenge that am going to run a new challenge since its been 2 months and i feel exactly the same you feel. i had some good results had several 50 - 70 days but most is around 25 - 30, so overall I'm kindda satisfied too because i used to lose money only when i wasn't with STM and once i joined I'm always positive.

So my new LP's and offer have actually really taken off well and is already @ +117% ROI - so vary happy about that!

Stats below:






Campaign only got approved half-way through the day so did'nt get so much data today, so i'll run it for a full day tomorrow to see if LP3 stays significantly ahead.

It's funny i really rushed that LP and it looks so amateur and even used an old logo for the offer, so it does'nt even resemble the offer LP at all, so hopefully if i tidy it up etc it may help the CR. But wait and see how it goes tomoz first.


Launched 2 other dating campaigns today - general dating and christian dating. Will have some data tomorrow for them....I think my image is gold.... she is sexysexysexy lollol

great stuff again for you

one question though-- $8 payout can only for offers with age restrictions like 40+ 50+ etc.

In PPV how you are ensuring that leads are only for people from such age? Are you ensuring that in your targets?

maybe example (not real if that outs campaign) would help coz my biggest hurdle to run such offers is restriction being put in offer.

Rather than tidying up LP3, I would make a LP4 which is a copy of LP3 but with the tidying so you can test them against each other. You never know what your audience are thinking, and if it turns out LP3 beats LP4 you can easily just turn it off.

yeah agreed thats what i was planning on doing, the ugly one may be the winner :-)

@chilliflakes - yeah the pixel on this offer only fires on 50+ sign-ups @ $8 but they also have a $6/40+ payout, which i just added to split test with. Targeting mature/seniors dating URL's you should be pretty right with age, plus it doesn't payout if the age bracket isn't hit so you'll know if your getting the right demographic or not.

On your LP's i'll quite often call-out a demographic as well eg ATTENTION: 50+ Single Men!

So I split the offer with another network, payout was slightly lower BUT conversion rate is about 3x better! So thats really got things moving :-) Will see if I can get a payout bump in a few days

So LP1 with significantly lower CTR is however converting a little better so far....will run all 3 LP's for another day and see if I can knock LP2 out (thats actually the top one in the overall data w 41% ROI) . will keep running both offers as well at least for another day....one is significantly outperforming the other though by about 225% ROI but they've only had <60 visitors each.


Don't have any significant data on the other campaigns I launched. The general dating campaign had no conversions but winning LP is at about 12% so i'm going to rotate a few offers through it while I optimize the LP.

The christian dating campaign only had 150 views (1/2 day)...LP3 had 1 conversion and 13%CTR (the other 2 LP's were both less than 5% CTR) but will run another full day and see how it goes. Got another offer to rotate as well.

Seeing this campaign is converting so well I launched another 5 campaigns with it against some new target groups and on LI, so should have a fair bit of data for tomorrow.

Going to try and target some females with it tomorrow with some ideas about url strings i want to try :-)

Conversions dropped off a bit today, but they did across both networks i'm testing so i'm inclined to think its more a day of the week thing as CTRs dropped a fair bit too. Tuesday isn't a great day from what i've noticed with dating. Was still a slightly profitable day with lots of optimization to be done.

Campaign is also doinh ok against some other target groups, more low volume/high ROI at the moment eg against keywords has spent $3.72 and had 2 conversions for $12 revenue so i loaded up a heap more KW's/variations to see if I can up the volume.

So I killed LP2 today cause it had been outperformed everday and was'nt converting well enough. Will leave LP's 1 & 3 running for another couple hundred views at least before making a decision. had about 580 each so far

Will also leave the 3 offers running probably until after the weekend and then cut 2 out. I think i'll want at least 100 visitors each before cutting them.



Also Have a christian dating offer which is showing potential, am rotating 2 offers through it at the moment. Still need to collect a lot more data though ....

A follow over last couple of days, conversion rate has really dried up last couple days

Day before yesterday


Spend - $39.79
Revenue - $34.10
Conversions - 5
ROI (15%)

And yesterday

Spend - $23.30
Revenue - $7.10
Conversions - 1
ROI (68%)


So not sure what to read into this i'm thinking its a day of the week thing cause the other dating capaigns i was running got very few conversion as well

So Campaign Overall:

Spent - $137.48
Revenue - $153.70
ROI - +12%


So will keep running over the weekend and gather some more data to see if the conversions come back at all. In the meantime i'm goin to split LP3. LP stats are:

LP3 1341 Views 153 Clicks 11.64%CTR 12Conversions +39%ROI

Going with LP3 to try and improve it. I've a cleaner version seeing it was a little rushed no changes too as far as copy but I have substituted the old offer logo with the new one.

Yo Yo Happy Monday! Or Superbowl Sunday for all u lovely americans...

So I have some data from over the weekend, was basically breakeven, and after 1000 views of the cleaned up LP the old one was still converting better so i'm going to work on optimizing that and throw a third network into the offers to test their conversion rate. Tomorrow the campaign will have been running 7 days and my plan was to kill any non converting targets so that I will do!

i've got a bit of a cash flow problem waiting on network payments and got hit with a heap of bills the last couple weeks so actually may have to pause things after tomorrow which sux... on the on the other hand i will be able to do some brainstorming on other ideas I have and learn some new stuff...really want to learn a little jquery.

Anyway I have some data from my christian dating campaigns

On LeadImpact

OverallSpend - $85.20
Revenue - $31.50
ROI - (62%)

This was rotating 5 offers of which i've now killed 4 as there a very clear winner unfortunately can't find the offer on any other network, even on offervault. I have 3 LP's roatating with about 600 views each, all CTR's between 6-8% and conversions are 2,3 and 5 for the LP's so will gather another 400 views for each before cutting two of them and start optimizing the winner.

On TV

Spend - $73.15
Revenue - $31.55
ROI - (56%)

It's amazing the effect of a traffic source on your LP results - rotating the same 3 LP's as on LI I have LP3 with 9 conversions and 9% CTR, then LP 2 10.53%CTR 1 conversion, LP1 3% CTR 1 conversion. The same LP on LI is currently performing second best on LI.

So again cut the 4 offers as the same offer is clearly performing better on both networks and am splitting the winning LP. Hopefully this brings up the ROI sopmewhat and i'll cut all the non-converting targets in a couple of days.
