Ok, so you have to admit that the image recognition tech used in Google's image search engine is pretty cool. With 'exact size' you can spy on IAB ads. Nice.
But as we know, every tool can be used to evil too.
Meeting up for a beer with an old buddy last week, he was telling me about some campany that uses similar tech to trawl the web for unauthorised use of logos. They make a cut from snitching on such sites/landers and taking a slice of the lawsuit damages awarded to the logo owners. I soon finished my beer to get down to some serious Photoshop eraser tool action.
Just sayin'

I've had an issues with a similar company like your friend mentioned. I was selling a shoe with a Heineken logo and they wanted to extort $7000+ from me, I was very afraid (I was young(er)), and went to see an IP lawyer who told me it's BS as the document they sent me was not addressed to me or my company and it was not even dated. Apparently they give Heineken a cut for the money they get from people. Their gimmick is they try to scare you in to compliance and paying a fee, which probably works on a lot of people.

Not if you're smart.
$7000 would be a dream next to what they could hammer you for.
I spotted a POF lander for a dating campaign belonging to a well known aff on this very forum only last Monday. It has logos from CNN, NBC, Fox News and others semi greyed-out at the bottom of it. You wouldn't like any of those companies pitbull lawyers on your ass. They'd be fisting your bank account for months.
Great on paper, dumb in practice.
Have I done this in the past? Sure. facebook 'like' images and facepiles you name it. Not any more though. All cleaned up now.

Exactly. As long as you don't hustle offshore in the carribean you shouldn't use any logos at all.
Here's a way how to add more legibility to you landers without using any logos (in case you've missed it): clickey.
