Ecommerce Tracking Suggestion ?
Hello my beautiful people. So I am running a Shopify site and I'm starting to work on optimization and buying ads, but I'm starting to remember why Google analytics can be annoying. I know for Google ads analytics is God like, but for other random networks I might be buying traffic on, does anyone have any suggestions for tracking well ? I know I could use something like Voluum, but I really don't want to do that as I want everything to be on domain and it's not really affiliate marketing at this point, plus I don't really want another massive thing to pay for with so much manual things to adjust. Although I wish I could track on Voluum's level, like set a special link for each ad.
Like if you are buying on Facebook or Snapchat, google analytics will just lump everything together into one "referred" section, when I want to see what ads do well, what they do from each ad specifically, etc.
I might start looking into Google analytics custom links, I think they do custom campaigns or something similar, but I dont know why, I always feel like I am not seeing the whole picture.

Wouldn't installing the FB and Snapchat pixels help with tracking? Is there something more you'd like to track that falls outside of the capabilities of the pixels?

Yep they do help.. I guess I was thinking of looking at each ad and seeing if a certain ad/landing page combo for example brought about a better CTR, conversion rate, etc. However, I did find out how to do custom links with Google analytics, I'll proably just stick with that for a little bit.

@sibi881 maybe you can give clickmagick a shot. They have a free 14 day trial and they give another 14 days extension after that. They are easy to use. You have nothing to lose!

A tracker would help you with such information and you will be able to quickly see the best performing Ad-Landing Page combinations in terms of Clicks, CTR, Conversions, CR and much more.
And with a self-hosted tracker, you will keep all these data private on your server and only accessible to you.
You can try the
CPV Lab Pro trial risk free for 30 days to see how it works for your setup.
Cheers,
Julia

GA is your best option here.
By using utm parameters, source/ medium / campaign your traffic will be accurately categorized under the standard marketing channels.
Utm content and term can be used to track additional campaign metrics and will be reported accurately in GA.
I would recommend anytrack.io which integrates with Shopify and sends conversion / audience data to ga, FB, bing and if you want to use additional networks, we have a global postback that can push conversions to other traffic sources.
When running e-commerce, your audience data collection is what will give an extra lift to your campaigns with retargeting and lookalike.

Even though a GA is a good thing for starters, there are still many issues that will not give you proper tracking. The best way to do is to use a tracking solution that will provide an accurate real-time data.
As example, RedTrack just launched a private app that helps simplify the FB + Shopify duo and provide accurate attribution. We also run a webinar on how to make FB conversion tracking with Shopify, so you are welcome to join to learn more about our experience — https://my.demio.com/ref/5a23IhYhQNRrytjO
