How to target "exotic" languages in FB
Hi,
I used to run some English speaking offers before. Some got unexpected sales in African countries with a positive ROI.
I wanna test these countries now in their local language. Problem is that FB doesn't offer the language targeting options for these languages eventhoug they have about 40 million speakers. For example Hausa in Nigeria (which is just one among 2 other common languages).
How can I show my ads to people who speak this language without targeting the other half of the population that doesn't speak Hausa?
Thanks

Perhaps target big magazines, blogs, pages that has that language as main language. Not sure if they exist ofcourse, but like big "local" pages/brands.

Try region targeting. Using the example you mentioned, I googled a bit and found this:
Predominantly Hausa-speaking communities are scattered throughout West Africa and on the traditional Hajj route north and east traversing the Sahara, with an especially large population in and around the town of Agadez.
Went to FB and indeed, it's possible to target the "Agadez" region. There you go
Alternatively, you can simply target whole Nigeria, but use Ads in the Hausa language, which should pre-filter the users. I bet clicks will be cheap in Nigeria so it can still work out. You can also pixel this audience and try to make a lookalike audience from these, right?

I would do that too, and let FB auto optimize.

You're right. They're not spread across the country equally but make up the majority of northern Nigeria. So they can be reached with regional targeting in FB.

Great, I'm pretty sure this will be the case with most countries where there is more than one official language
