Looking for TikTok Ads media buyers!
Hey guys, I am wondering if TikTok Ads is a popular traffic source among the STM community members yet?
I only recently joined the forum but couldn't find much information about it. I have had a decent experience with Facebook, Google and Snapchat in the past but by the end of 2020 completely switched to TikTok Ads. With MAU of 800m users in 2020 many buyers have chosen to try it here locally. Then, I joined your community hoping that I will find more people or case studies about TikTok but I didn't really see neither.
Can someone explain to me the reason buyers avoid this traffic source?
Or else why is there little to no information about TikTok Ads anywhere on STM?
Thank you for making it to the end! Feel free to comment below or PM me directly with any questions.

Hey man, these are pretty good questions.
Especially since many of our users run FB so it would be logical to run paid traffic on other social networks as well.
I can only speak for myself, I run only pops and push so there the transition to TikTok is more complicated.
Nonetheless I wanted to test TikTok traffic and signed up for an advertising account there last year in March.
I received an email with some questions about me and my business, I answerd all questions but then never heard back from TikTok.
After 2 or 3 follow up emails without a reply I just gave up on it.
Few weeks ago I tried it again and got an ad account but I didn´t run campaigns there because I am absolutely not used to create video ads.
It´s no rocket science but would have to step out of my push and pops comfort zone and just didn´t do it yet.
But I would also enjoy it alot to read more about TikTok ads here and I still plan to test it, I just need to get over my f*#*ing lazyness

This sounds really interesting.
I don´t know shit about Snapchat but when someone who had success on FB and Google abandons these platforms for TikTok it seems that it could be really worth it.
Maybe we can get some discussion going in this thread.
Would be great when you could share some tips how to best get started there, for example what´s the best/easiest/fastest way to create good working creatives for TikTok.
Even if noone else is interested you can be sure that I am and when I know how to make good creatives I will definitely run tests there as well.

Look at these two. Almost no video skills needed. You can get that for $5 on Fiverr.
Definitely some guys doing arbitrage:

Tik Tok isnt that popular traffic source among STM members, since they wouldn't allow the standard affiliate offers to be promoted. But the focus is slowly shifting in the community and more and more affiliates are experimenting with ecommerce or clean leadgen, which are verticals that could be a good fit with TikTok... so I expect to see related threads started in the near feature. And you can be one of the first members who would start the discussion. The truth is, STMers run everything, so even if TikTok isnt one of the most popular sources, Im 100% sure some members are buying this traffic.
So just try to post a question and someone might chime in and offer advice.

i'm assuming they are making money off all the ads, but i wonder how well they actually do, i wonder if google display would even allow them

Thanks for the examples.
This definitely looks like something I could do.
I never used TikTok myself because it has some of the most retarded content and users I can imagine so I also have no idea what kind of ads are used there.
But the examples look doable so I guess I will just fire up some tests soon.

Yup it's about the ads, it's called arbitrage. We have several good threads about arbitrage here on the forum, though not specifically with tiktok used as the source, but the principle remains the same. Check these for example:

TikTok has more of a Facebook game to me more than anything else. Even when we just started we started as a team with media buyers, farmers and developers on board. I used to run 30-50 accounts at one time in order to scale up campaigns because one account just won't do.

I am not necessarily an expert but I can share my best performance practices in terms of creatives:
- Make sure to use a trending TikTok music on your ads. Being a video social network, creative really is a king. I suggest that you and your creative team all join TikTok to see what kind of videos are on your recommendation page daily.
- Don't use the content you find on adspies or creative materials that are commonly used by other buyers on TikTok. Again, TikTok is a video platform first so it has a way of detecting copy-pasted videos by frames or something. The best option is to shoot a video yourself. It doesn't have to be top notch quality, just use your phone and make something up.
- We often use a voiceover on our creatives to grab attention and make them more humanly. If you don't have anyone to voice over your creatives, use services that let you make sound out of text.
I don't think my tips are universal, nowadays everyone's approach is kind of different. In my opinion, people have to find your creatives attractive and click on it. As soon as you find a good combination where your offer+creatives receive traction scale it up and make profit. But it might take some time before you're comfortable finding one.
I hope this helps.

Thanks alot for your tips.

My biggest nightmare.
I don´t use any social networks/platforms anyway because I don´t like it at all but TikTok is one of the worst ones.
When I see some of the stuff that´s posted there I always have the impression that you have to be mentally retarded to use the platform
Will install it anyway to check out some creatives that are used there...
