Adcopy for facebook
Hey guys,
i experimented with story style adcopy, inspired by john carlton style type for facebook ads.
wrote a long copy but man it did not work that well.
then i saw a case study by matt riley where he basically tested 40 products for dropshipping,
and becus he had so many products to test,
he wrote simple ''few sentences'' type adcopy basically detailing the offer and it worked.
so i tried doing the usual '' look like an ad'' type of adcopy instead of john carlton's story style
and it worked much better.
anyone has experience to share? regarding what works on facebook?

testing works. so write a long-one, a middle one and a short one. again it depends on your vertical what will give best result. an insurance offer probably needs way more convincing than "win an iphone".

This is it exactly, there is no one-size-fits all approach in running ads. Different verticals require different approach, various audiences also tend to respond well to different copy, some ad styles work better with a specific type of a sales page etc...
Personally, I'm a fan of shorter copy, even though I prefer to write longer pieces of any text as that gives me more space to express myself... but when fighting for the attention of a potential customer, I'm usually seeing better results with shorter copy, especially when talking about the AD itself.

It really depends on what you're trying to push - long copy can work really well, but it needs to be written well, too. In the long run you're better off running a short-copy template and pushing a bajillion ads instead, focusing on the creative.

Thanks guys.
really appreciate so many positive input from you guys.
I have followed advice of many seniors in this forum , you know.... studying cashvertising and the books recommended by most
is there any materials for ''template'' you guys can recommend?
something that works well on facebook
i went to the adcopy section of the forum and most of the adcopy style suit email more, however i am not doing email marketing
fb ads kinda suit straight to the point style, whether is it long or short cus the offer page will explain the rest

Enter 1 or 2 simple sentences right here and be sure to keep 'em short and to the point.
✅ Short benefit - couple of words 1
✅ Short benefit - couple of words 2
✅ Short benefit - couple of words 3
Headline: Main Product/Service Name
Description: Discount/offer
This has been tested across thousands of ads - obviously, you should make your own variations and adjustments.

Emojis not rendering but e.g. get 'point right' for the URLs: https://emojipedia.org/backhand-index-pointing-right/
'Fire' for the first line: https://emojipedia.org/fire/
Or just mix in whatever
Etc.

Thank you for your input.
Do you personally recommend anyone I should study for fb adcopy other than the usual authors?

In terms of ad copy for Facebook or Instagram or nowadays even Reddit or any other platform, there really isn't much to study regarding the platforms themselves - you've got an imposed character limit (minus primary text) and a bunch of aggressiveness requirements and guidelines.
The content on these platforms is extremely shallow, at best, and you must assume an untrained baby goldfish has a lengthier attention span and is way more focused than your average user – and you go from there. Meaning you should study copywriting in general instead of looking for platform experts, imo.
Every word and every line has to keep the user glued to their screen and moving on to the next line of text – especially so when writing long copy.
With short or long copy – it better be damn
straight to the right point (pretty much what angles are), just so you don't throw away a user's short attention span in the wind. No unnecessary words, no going off on tangents, etc. What is this product you're selling, how exactly does it benefit users, throw in urgency and so on.
That being said, it's better if you learn what makes a good creative (and how to make good creatives), whether images or videos and then move on to polishing copy. A creative's impact is massive when compared to copy – I've tried to get stuff to convert via copy only (vs a good creative) and the time and effort it took is just not worth it. Facebook/IG/Youtube/Snapchat/Tiktok are all primarily visual platforms and that's why they're thriving – video and images are much easier and quicker to absorb than text.
Get yourself some great video editors and designers and go watch the magic happen. Go look at Ad World, it's wiping the floor with great ads right now:
https://www.facebook.com/ads/library...5102&sort_data[direction]=desc&sort_data[mode]=relevancy_monthly_grouped&search_type=page
And notice the copy – it's dead simple. But the creatives? Extremely engaging, yet extremely simple too. Not much text within the videos, straight to the point.

I agree with the others here that short and punchy copy works much better on Facebook. Your images and video will take center stage and the copy is really just supporting and directing to your CTA. I hope this helps!

I can vouch for this format - have gotten excellent results with this!
HOWEVER: Long copy can also work! Like @
stickupkid said, it depends on the offer. Only testing will tell.
Same thing with the length of video ads: You'll see many gurus (including FB itself) suggesting no more than 10-15 seconds. And yet there are 5-minute ads that convert like crazy.
No matter the length of copy/video: Make sure every second counts. Make sure every word/scene is there for a good reason. The average attention span is really short these days.
Lastly - a couple of great tools for creating attention-grabbing ads:
