I am currently running a campaign in TW and prepping to run in TH.
I can't remember which post, but I believe TH was mentioned as being too competitive for beginners.
I'm looking to run SOI sweeps on Push traffic. Phones, grocery vouchers, and fast food vouchers are what I have my eye on.
Since I can't verify this at the moment, I'm going to move forward and spend cautiously in TH. I also recall MY being part of that warning.
What Asia geos would you recommend for a beginner?
It also depends what you want to run.
Would be great when you could tell more like what traffic do you want to use, what vertical do you want to run, what conversion flow and so on.

From our experience in dating niche such Asian geos as TH, MY, ID would be the best to start with. They are cheap, relatively competitive and you would be able to find offers for them.
Also, you can try JP, but it is more expensive geo and there are more cultural components to take into account in your creative/flow. However, if you are looking for cheap and less competetive geographies, we can suggest you look at LATAM or East European countries.
Piggybacking on the comment above, if your primary reason for testing Asian geos is for cost effeciency then dont sleep on LATAM.
Big populated countries in Brazi / Spain especially so there wont be a shortage of traffic for testing.
One important rule: Don´t just go where the traffic is cheap, go where converting offers are available.
