Beware Taboola's Push Traffic

In case you didn't know, Taboola does have push placements. There is no way to block them in advance, and if the AI goes haywire, it will send a massive amount of traffic at them before you even know it happened to stop it.

Here are the offenders if you wish to block them from your campaigns.

Yikes man that is brutal... I've never seen it that bad... we've tried a bunch of new sub-accounts the last few months with no blocks in place and never had anything like that happen- at least to that degree- not sure if you just had really bad luck or what happened...

That sucks... How the fuck can that happen on smart bid in the first place? Not very smart if you ask me.

As for the culprits... Metro PCS... would definitely only happen on Mobile and most likely 3G.

Probably a lot of garbage push placements on Android that are getting rebrokered I would imagine.

One way to avoid would be to run Desktop only.

Another would be to exclude Android as iOS doesn't have push placements, and you want real Native Widgets anyway.

You'd be missing out on Android devices, but... it's definitely worth it to avoid all that garbage. Another option is Android targeting Wifi only, that might help as well.

Wow that sucks. Thanks for posting, and especially the placement details.

True, however Android appears to convert well.

I believe it may be to the AI getting confused and barfing. I had altered the bid some on the campaign as it had been too low previously. What kills me is the Rep wants to pretend like this is normal and acceptable behavior. I can accept someone saying, "Yeah, that does suck, but sometimes it happens." Versus trying to pretend that not only is it ok, but it is desirable.

This has been happening to me too. I’ve had to start with super low budget to get those absolute shit trash widgets out early. Also you can add them to the block list in the campaign setup so I do that too. But yeah that one at the top of your screen shot is a horrible widget, It’s sucked hundreds of dollars from me and it is 0% CTR every single time. It literally seems like straight up bot traffic not sure why it hasn’t been flagged or something.. then again everyone has different experiences, some people may even be getting profit from it
