Jaybot’s Propush Follow Along Case-Study--Maybe-- Extravaganza

Hi, I'm Jaybot and I'm an Affiliate Marketer.
You may have heard of me from STM with the longest running Follow Along thread for doing Pops and Push campaigns.
Or perhaps from the Affiliate Building Blocks series on the Binom Blog.
And maybe even when doing case studies for Pushground or Voluum.
But most likely, you've never heard of me 😊
That's okay too! We're all here to learn and share and make money online, right? Right.
So.
Propush contacted me because they think I love pizza, swearing a lot, and making money from push subscriptions. All of these things are true.
They said, "Hey Jaybot, we like your 'Boring' Follow Along, can you do that with some Propush push subs?" I of course said OK. I love making money from push subs.
Okay... how does one make money with push subs?
Well, people opt-in to a Push Notification in their browser.
This is usually along the likes of
"Would you like notifications from this awesome website?", they select Allow, and they are added to that website's push notification subscribers.
From then on, until they opt-out, they can receive any messages from that subscription list via their browser on that device (Desktop or Android devices). Advertising Networks take advantage of this, and send messages to these subscribed users.
If the users click on the message, you get paid some share of the revenue.
With
Propush, you can now
collect the subscribers yourself and have the network do all the technical stuff
and sell the traffic for you, while you get a cut of the
profit. Pretty cool, right?
Normally, this takes a bit of a complicated setup with adding scripts to your server, and then adding another script to each of your webites or landing pages and then
praying that it all works.
But recently,
Propush created something
way easier to implement.
What is it?
Subscription Links.
This makes use of collecting push subscriptions (for your own little zone on the advertising network
Propeller Ads) and also integrates a Back Button offer (when a user does some action on the website: Allow, Deny, etc. the browser transfers the user to a targeted offer) all rolled into one tidy link.
Pretty sweet, huh?
So... let's give it a spin!
Since I already have a bunch of traffic running, I decided to simply use a new
Rev Share Subscription Link.
Create one like this:
Feel free to choose your desired color, I chose the yellow button thingy.
For the record:
I
love the randomly generated link names. Magnificent. Joyful. Beautiful.
Remember, we all gotta remember to have fun doing AM
You can see it also creates a separate zone for TrafficBack, that's the Back Button offer I mentioned.
Now, before we dash off and copy paste this new link everywhere, we should probably
check the supported geo list for these links.
Why?
Two reasons:
One: You'll be wasting traffic by sending people from unsupported geos to the link, even if they could sign up, it wouldn't do anything. So Propush
won’t pay you any money for unsupported geos, which is no bueno. So don’t do that.
Two: If it's unsupported, it will go straight to the TrafficBack link, which
pays by impression, and if you are sending a bunch of unsupported geos straight to a TrafficBack, it will look pretty suspicious to the
ProPush Compliance Team. They are
very sensitive about their TrafficBack offers. So again, avoid doing that.
We're not going to worry about setting a postback yet, as we're only going to check these stats on
Propush. We'll worry about trackers and optimizing later.
Okay, so first...
I'll just choose a bunch of geos I am already running, TH, NG, ID, CZ, HU, etc. etc. etc. These are luckily, all in the list.
And then I run my normal campaigns with this link on my Back Button script. And we'll check the stats after a few hours and...
Yay! Money! For Free!
I love free money.
Notice how the TrafficBack is actually higher than the revshare so far. This is because, as I said, it pays per impression, so as soon as someone sees the TrafficBack Offer, you get money. And a lot of people try to hit the back button.
Also.
Since these users just subscribed, they probably haven't been sent any ads on your zone yet. Let's give it some time, and see if it goes up.
Ooh, that's fun!
That's an extra $10 of
pure profit without any extra work.
Pretty simple, right?
Now... how can we make
even more money?
Well, we send more traffic 😉
Next time, I'll dive into a few ways on how we can get traffic to these Subscription Links, in addition to how we can start optimizing them to make more money.
In the meantime, if you haven't yet, go get on
Propush and start earning extra money on your camps.
See you soon!

Affluencer is such good copy and you probably didn't even know it.
I had to check several dictionaries and I'm still not sure what it should mean.
And I feel stupid not knowing something connected to affluent, so I have to pretend I get the meaning at the same time.
Very sticky.
I fucking love it.

Let me solve the mystery: Affiliate + influencer = Affluencer
Had nothing to do with affluent although it's also a good match.

Jaybot’s Propush FA Extravaganza Pt. 2
Hey!
I don't like waiting around to make these updates any more than you like waiting around to read them. But we all have to eat.
And Jaybot eats a lot.
Of Pizza. And steak. Damn, he loves steak.
He also speaks in the third-person sometimes.
It's okay to be weird in this industry.
When you make enough money, you get upgraded to eccentric!
So, where were we?
Oh yeah! We were using Propush's new subscription links to get a massive $10 in profit for doing... nothing really.
But then I realized, we might be able to make more money if we do something!
While I figured out how to do something, I did actually setup their normal push subscription collection on a few of my landing pages, just to see how much money I could get from simple push subs... and it looked like this after a week.

Not bad, eh?
But still, we're not there yet. Baby steps.
Let's get these new-fangled subscription links working. By running them directly as an offer.
'But Jaybot! We're not allowed to do that on Propeller!'
I didn't say Propeller. Yet.
Let's try something a little more lenient first. I chose ZeroPark.
But you're free to do Popads Popads.net as well
We're also going to setup another subscription link.
Why? Because we're switching to CPS for a bit.
Why? Well... revshare is better. Infinitely better. You keep those subs and they add up and they can earn you money for a good while, the more you get the more you earn, and the more others looking to buy traffic will buy from your little collection.
But.
We will have no idea how much one subscription is worth and if we can collect them without losing money unless we switch to CPS. Because Propush has already done the math for you.
Now. Let's go back to those supported geos and take a look at the CPS payouts. That's what we will aim for.

But how will we know when we get a subscription... and how much it cost us?
You're using a tracker right?
Hopefully Binom. But Voluum, etc. Will do fine
Got one? Good.
Now. Remember last time, when I said we weren't going to setup a postback for this?

Well, I lied.
Kinda.
The lie your math teacher told you in elementary school about dividing by zero is equal to zero. It's wrong, but it gets you moving onto more important things until you're ready to deal with what seems impossible.
Like we're going to do now.
It's actually pretty simple. Setup the offer like this in your tracker:
Code:
https://yourawesomesmartlink?abdcdefghj&var={trafficsource}&ymid={clickid}
And in the postback here on propush, put your tracker link plus these tokens.
Code:
https://yourawesometrackerlink.com/?cnv_id={ymid}&country={geo}&payout={amount}
Check with your tracker’s support to make sure you don’t mess that up
Now we can run some traffic.
But what geos do we choose?
I've had success with PR for some reason. And GH.
You're free to choose your own geos, but keep in mind: the higher the CPS payout, the harder it will be to get a 'conversion' or the more expensive the traffic.
First, I started a multi-geo camp on ZeroPark.
Then ran it for a few days and...
See! We have postback!
And money!
Not the best ROI, but at least we know everything is working.
As you can see, the CPS payouts are quite small, and you'll need a loooot to make some real money like this, but that automatic TrafficBack sure does help:
Now.
Once you've found a good geo or two, you can switch to single geo campaigns and optimize the CPS subscriptions until it is break even or profitable.
And then... you can switch to revshare.
At least,
that's my theory.
Does it work?
Tune in to find out next time
I also have one more trick up my sleeve in the next installment, which will allow you to run this on
any traffic you like.
Can you guess what that might be?
Any questions, complaints, or answers, take a stab below.
Peace!

Jaybot’s Propush Follow Along Case Study Extravaganza Pt. 3
"I'm back!"
I'm reminded of one of my favorite childhood games where a certain adventurer in a Fedora says the above when he walks in the room.
Answered by:
"You don't look at all well, Dr. Jones..." by the bad guy with a wicked German accent.
One of the most
enjoyable things about the Indy Jones games and movies is:
watching him get beat up.
Instead of him just winning all the time. It shows
he's human. And has flaws. And he
bleeds a lot before finally scraping out a win
in the end.
Speaking of which, I have some good news and some bad news.
Bad news first?
Well... my initial tests on ZeroPark using multi-geo camps didn't go
quite as well as I wanted.
Yes. They
did convert, and yes I was able to optimize some.
But still
pretty lossy.
I prefer making money on occasion, so I thought about how to get these fancy subscription links working on
all of my favorite pops/push sources.
As some of you may know,
some Pops and Push sources can be
kinda strict with what they allow.
This works in everyone's favor though, as the more strict a source, the better the quality of traffic.
One thing many traffic sources frown upon is: linking to a lander or page which
has the only intent of collecting push subs. They just don't like it.
Luckily, I have lots
more intent than just that. I intend to make money. And eat steak. And watch girls in bikinis play beach volleyball. Not necessarily in that order. But still:
tons of intent.

I watch volleyball for the articles.
And no traffic sources have rules against beach volleyball, Jaybot making money, nor any rules against having a pre-lander for downloading files or captcha with a CTA link to continue on to an offer.
So... what if we were to use a nice lander
for that?
I'll even do it in an English speaking geo. With a nice Desktop CPS payout of $0.03: Kenya.
Here is the lander I used:
This is a pretty nice lander and works for
many types of offers, and
makes perfect sense on a lot of pop traffic (as many of the sites are file-sharing sites).
The nice thing about running on many Pops sources is we can jump start campaigns pretty quickly by running CPA camps near our CPS and their system’s magic algorithms will optimize the camp automatically. I'll choose something as close as possible: $0.029
But
does it work?
You betcha.
Remember I mentioned some
Good News?
It worked pretty quickly:
And continued.
And is
still actively earning some dollar-bucks right now.
Now, you may be thinking:
“Hey Jaybot, I see some colors are red. Like, not the pretty green color.”
And you would be right. But you forgot about TrafficBack revenue:
Which would put the into the green.
Barely. I spent about $9 and got $11 back. So $2 green without
too much effort.
Also.
Check out those placements the CPA camps collected for me.
I can take those and make some nice Whitelist camps.
And...
I can switch this over to a Propush revshare subscription link at some point and beat the CPS payout while continuing to earn off of the push subscriptions.
In theory 😊
And that's just Kenya Desktop.
I also tried a few other geos on the list: Malawi, Puerto Rico, Guinea, and Nigeria.
These tests are still a bit early, but they are all just as promising with similar results.
Slight ouchie on Malawi, but it’s getting better with time: most CPA camps will continue to get better, as long as there is consistent traffic and conversions.
"Alright, alright, alright, I did the math Jaybot, even if I did every available geo on Desktop and Mobile, I would need like a bajillion conversions a day to make any real money."
Uh oh.
You may be right.
And a bajillion is a
high number. But
attainable. Especially if you try some pure CPA on some
many sources.
I won't name names. But they're well known in the AM world. And surprisingly,
most of them start with the letter A.
Plus... now that you have my fancy lander above, you can also
use Push traffic to your subscription links. And
dirt-cheap pop traffic on SmartCPM.
Possible? I think so. And
you’re super curious too because you don’t have to lose any money to find out, you can just watch me lose money
So.
Can I reach some actual money with these fancy subscription links?
Tune in next time to find out! 😊
Oh, and I'll also
show you the secret of how you can collect push subs anywhere and
everywhere you like.
See you soon!

You know... I've been meaning to post this for awhile now, but I've heard through the grapevine the Propush disabled subscription links for some peeps. But still active for others? In any case, this covers them, and their more lucrative push subscription script tag thingies, so... I'm posting it, dammit.

Jaybot’s Final Propush Follow Along Case Study Extravaganza Pt. 4
Yo.
It's about that time.
To bring forth the rhythm and the rhyme.

Is exactly what this guy was saying back in 1991 when he wanted to impress his older brother who was part of the world's biggest boy band at the time.
And now, no one remembers his brother.
But everybody knows this guy:

That is one handsome bear.
In any case, you never know what one action, or series of actions, will end up accomplishing until you actually set the balls in motion.
So.
Time to stitch this all together.
Partly, because I've kept you waiting on the edge of the cliff for so long you're fingers are probably getting sore.
Also. I have camps to scale and writing articles takes what precious little time I have left on this planet. 😊
So first off, how did my tests with push subscription links using landers on multiple sources do?

Plus some Backbutton:

They did OK.
Tidy profits, but nothing amazingly amazing.
But for the amount of effort, pretty nice
You could scale this out as much as you want, I know of some affiliates who make a nice tidy sum of money doing only push sub links on auto-pilot.
But you know what's even better ROI? And LESS effort?
Using Push Sub Scripts.
This takes a little bit more effort to setup than simply copying and pasting the link in your tracker, but once they are setup correctly, they are even EASIER to run and maintain with every single offer you run into the future.
I'm going to show you how to set it up within Binom (the best tracker on the planet, according to me), but setting it up with other trackers such as Voluum should be just as easy.
First thing's first: We need to set up our 'Site'.

Go here and select Add Source.

Now it says Website or Landing Page.

I honestly don't know the difference. Either one is going to ask you to place a script on the root of your site, and you will have to send a link to the site. Landing Page is probably easier to approve, so let's go ahead and do that.

You only have to do this ONCE. Once you've proven you own the site and have hosted the js file, you'll never have to do it again. Ever.
Okay, so fill in your url and download the fancy JS file. Upload it to your server, and then hit the Verify button and they will check to see if you own your own domain. Got it? Awesome!

Your ‘Sites’ page should have the domain and listed and the green verified thingy now 😊
Next up, we create some tags. Click on your newly verified domain and it will take you to this page. You can create a Smart Tag or a TrafficBack link.

First. We do the Smart Tag.
Super Easy, like so.

I would 10000000% recommend revshare. Since this will all be passive income on top of landers you are running for other offers already, you really don't need to be worrying about traffic costs or posting back CPS conversions. You can if you really want to... but it doesn't make much sense to me.

Next, Propush wants you to upload one more file to your server and verify again. This is simply a permissions file.
(which let's your push subscription list know if the user has been subscribed already or not, and tells the server what to do if the user already has subscribed... if you really want to know)
Do that, and then we have some options to choose from. Setup some Postback or setup some Trafficback.
As I said earlier, you don't really need to setup Postback, because you can (and will) be checking your stats within the Propush dashboard for the revshare payouts anyway. So, I would skip it unless you want to do pure CPS... which I don't recommend. But if you know what you are doing, feel free :P

The setup extra traffic monetization is the fun part, and I suggest you tick ALL of them. Allowed, Denied, Skipped, and Already Subscribed. And set them all to whichever TrafficBack you wish (there is an option to create and select new TrafficBack links here too). This way you can try to squeeze every penny out of each user that you can.
Lastly, there is this funky script below.

This is possibly the most important part.
This is what we're going to copy and paste in the <head> section of our lander’s html file.
We're going to get our hands slightly dirty by editing some html.
But if you're into Affiliate Marketing. And you've come this far already:
You're not afraid of dirty, are you? 😊
So fire up your favorite text/html/code editor (I like sublime text) and let's take a look at the header in a simple lander.
In fact, remember that cool download lander I shared from last time?
Well. Let's say you wanted to add the push subscription script to that lander.
It's header code looks like this:

So. We could just copy and paste our stuff from above with <script> ... </script> like so:
Code:
<script>
const s = document.createElement('script');
s.src='//yourcoolpushsubdomain/pfe/current/micro.tag.min.js?z=1234567'+'&sw=/sw-check-permissions-891011.js';
s.onload = (result) => {
switch (result) {
case 'onPermissionDefault':
window.location.replace("//yourcooldomain/4/131415");break;
case 'onPermissionAllowed':
window.location.replace("//yourcooldomain/4/9101112");break;
case 'onPermissionDenied':
window.location.replace("//yourtrafficbackmaybe/4/5678");break;
case 'onAlreadySubscribed':
window.location.replace("//yourtrafficbackmaybe2/4/1234");break;
case 'onNotificationUnsupported':break;
}
}
document.head.appendChild(s);
</script>
OR.
You could put
that code in a separate js file on your server like subscript.js and then inside your landing page html simply have:
Code:
<script src="subscript.js" async></script>
Which will do the same thing. But look way neater on your server. If you're into that.
Very similar for our TrafficBack:
Creating a TrafficBack link is as simple as selecting your site from ‘Sites’ and clicking Create TrafficBack, giving it a sweet name, and then a link will be created for you, such as this one:
All you need to do is copy and paste that one into your backbutton script on your lander.
What’s that? You don’t have a back button script?
Well.
It’s a good thing you came here today!
I don't know what fancy script everyone is using now, but this one is a classic and still works:
Code:
<script>
! function () {
var t;
try {
for (t = 0; 10 > t; ++t) history.pushState({}, "", "#");
onpopstate = function (t) {
t.state && location.replace("https://yourtrafficbacklink.com/4/1234567")
}
} catch (o) {}
}();
</script>
Place this code after the </body> tag in your page.
Or, as before, you can place that code in a separate js file, such as trafficback.js and link it in the html with :
Code:
<script src="trafficback.js" async></script>
Hmm? You have a question?
“Could you use your original push subscription links as a back button instead of a TrafficBack link, since it has a push sub lander and Back Button built-in already?”
Why, yes, I think you
could as it covers both! Good thinking 😊
And, that’s pretty much it! Now you can use push sub scripts on all of your landers!
“But wait--!”
You may be wondering... what do I do in my tracker?
That's the beauty of it:
Nothing.
You
have to do nothing. The push subs will automatically show up on any of your hosted landers which you paste the above script into.
“But you said something about Binom?”
Yes! I did! Good memory
Binom is pretty awesome and has this neat thing called
Smart Rotation Paths.
Basically, whenever a non-unique user visits your tracker, you can send them somewhere else. And if a non-unique user has already seen one of your landers, a great way to try and snag them a second time, or a third time, is to send them to a subscription link directly!
Like this:
With the rotation weights set to 100, 3, 2, 1 users will visit the Clickdealer camp first. Then if the same user comes again, the smart rotation should send them to the Advidi, then the Gotzha, and finally our Propush sub link. For large volume geos like Indonesia, this works really, really, well. So I highly suggest it.
Of course, you can adjust the weights to only have one offer at 100 and the push sub at 1 for the second visit.
Sound confusing? Sorry 😊
Even easier in Binom: You can set simple rules!
You can also do this without using any rotation, simply by using Binom's rules, and selecting: NOT Unique user, and then send them directly to the subscription link.
Speaking of Rules in Binom: You can also use them to monetize any non-targeted traffic using Binom's rules.
Non targeted traffic, is basically when the Traffic Source messes up and send you traffic you didn't want. E.g. wrong geo, wrong OS, wrong device, wrong carrier, etc.
Many times these untargeted users won't be accepted on the offer you are trying to run them for, and even if they do convert, it can hurt your quality with the advertiser. So a simple way to still make money on the traffic you paid for, is to send them to a subscription link.
Here is how to do that in Binom:
I’m saving space here so I put all the Rules
together, but you can have
as many rules as you like in Binom!
Now you’re monetizing users on your lander, back button, duplicate users, and un-targeted traffic! Look how much more money you can make now! 😊
“Okay, Okay, Okay. ALL fine and dandy Jaybot. This really doesn't seem like too much effort to set up, but let's be honest: can I make money doing this? Is it worth it? Or should I just focus on my offers.”
Look. I
can't give you a straight answer. This is Affiliate Marketing. Everyone is lying to each other
constantly, how can we possibly trust
anything I say or do? So. Take everything I say with a grain... or an entire bag of salt. I'm trying to tell the truth, but
not everything will work for everyone.
But!
I can say, some affiliates use this as a nice buffer to offset testing costs while they are running a bunch of offers and make money on their main offers. Usually, you can get a good 10-25% of your money back just from collecting push subs.
Also. Get this:
Some affiliates make the
majority of their profits focusing on
only push subs.
How?
If you run all of your normal offers trying to break even and collect push subs which can get an extra 10-25%:
You automatically have 10-25% ROI even if you are only breaking even on your offers. If you do that at scale, you're talking some
serious money.
For example, if you spend $100 on traffic and your camps break even, you could still earn $25 profit from your push subs. If you spent $1000 on traffic and broke even, you still earned $250 profit.
Which Affiliate Am I? I'm not sure. A bit of both, I think.
Either way, here is a screenshot of all the revenue I have earned from ProPush Subscription Links and Scripts since I started this Follow Along (about 3 months worth).
There were definitely some up
and down days... but $6k of extra money for very little work seems worth it to me.
Oh, and for those who really,
really dive into it: I personally know other affiliates making 3-4x this amount in profits
per month. Just from push subs. Think of that!
OK! Done!
Thanks for reading… Now go make some money!

@
jaybot: I don't know if you experienced this but in my case when I ticked ALL of them and open my landing page on a mobile phone, it redirects straight to the traffic backlink instead of showing my lander. I think the reason is that I blocked notification on my mobile phone for the landing page, and this script treat the notification block as "denied" and will direct your lander to traffic back link. This behavior is quite dangerous because it means your actual lander never shows to the user and you keep sending the traffic to the traffic back link instead.

Propush turned of subscription link in my account, so do you recommend any other link I can use in this case which gives an equivalent outcome ?

Well, you can turn the denied thing off and adjust your script. For me, I've never had that issue as I'm not really targeting people who visit and then turn their push notificaitons off, and if they do, I'll happily send them somewhere else. And if they do it
again then I'm sending them to a different offer entirely with
Binom rules.

You can probably chat with support and get them re-enabled if you'd like. If not, Monetizer's push sub smartlinks might work as a replacment for you

Yes,
But you also new to upload the .js file provided by Propush to the root directory of your server

Done.
But why does it redirect automatically? I don't even have to do anything but load the site and it redirects.
I've tried different browsers, incognito mode, and on my phone and it still does it.

Most likely you have configured it for redirection.
Leave the cases open like in the following code (which is the standard you get from propush):
Code:
<script>
var s = document.createElement('script');
s.src='//ouphouch.com/pfe/current/micro.tag.min.js?z=SECRET'+'&sw=/sw-check-permissions-SECRET.js';
s.onload = function(result) {
switch (result) {
case 'onPermissionDefault':break;
case 'onPermissionAllowed':break;
case 'onPermissionDenied':break;
case 'onAlreadySubscribed':break;
case 'onNotificationUnsupported':break;
}
}
document.head.appendChild(s);
</script>
Redirection can make sense when you either want to use the push prompt as a content locker or you want to focus on collecting push subs only.

That's weird, I simply copied and pasted it exactly the way Propush has it.
Here's what mines looks like:
Was it something outside of the code that I toggled to set it to redirection?
I followed the guide step by step, but I'm not sure where I may have messed up at.

Well your setup is for redirecting to the TrafficBack links.
Look at the code I have provided you with and you will see that there is no redirect for the cases (meaning onPermissionDefault etc.).
In your code there are redirects. Everything you marked with a long green bar is a redirect.
To make it a bit simpler: Don't activate "Set up for TrafficBack..." --> Toggle it off like "Set up Postback"

Push Traffic >
