Landing pages - copyright questions
Hi everyone,
I read the forum all day and afaik there are 2 ways to go for landing pages:
Option 1:
rip landing pages from spy tools -> clean it -> minor adjustments(click url etc) - > deploy
Option 2:
Pay someone to create you landing page if you have original idea
I'm more interested in option 1, not trying to reinvent the wheel hehe
Is it legal to rip someone's landing page and deploy it?
Is there something that i CAN'T do with this landing page?
How does this work with copyrights?
Are there even any copyrights on a landing page?
Sorry for overwhelming you with questions..

I can’t comment on the legal part, but I do have a funny story of something that happened to me...
I ripped someone’s lander and they came after me on 3 different platforms. They submitted copyright claims to the traffic source, Taboola, my web page host, Amazon Web Services, and even the affiliate network of the offer.
So in total I had like 10 emails and Skype messages from Amazon, my taboola account manager, and my affiliate manager all telling me to remove the page immediately or there would be legal action or some shit.
Anyways, nothing happened in the end, and I ended up writing up my own advertorial that outperformed the triggered copyright kid’s so it worked out.

My understanding is that the world of copyright is somewhat ambiguous, and it depends a lot on all the variables involved.
Frankly I would be more worried about using someone's image in an ad or on a landing page where the image isn't free to use/etc, as no one wants some private image of them used on some casual dating or ED lander lol.
Re: ripping landing pages, it really depends.
If you rip one of these Revcontent Diabetes landers that's been ripped by 100 different affiliates over the last few years and has one image and 4 sentences of text, no one is going to care.
If you rip some unique advertorial from a brand that spent thousands of dollars developing it, they might be ticked.
If you have a legit contact email on it that actually forwards to you, then I would *think* that the worst that would happen is that someone emails you and says 'uh, can you change this so its unique and not an exact copy of ours?'
The problem is when lazy affiliates rip something and then run it as-is without changing anything, including the compliance stuff and contact email and Impressum, because then they're essentially running the advertorial all over the web while exposing the person they ripped it from to all the risk. That's when you're going to have people really complaining and/or contact your traffic source/affiliate network.
But yeah, it only takes 10 seconds to swap out the image and change the copy a bit, so in my opinion its worth it to always make your landers unique. Just better karma with the internet marketing gods.
