Lead gen in professional education niche (edu)

Hey gang -

I'm wondering if anyone has pointers on how to cross-monetize in the edu niche.

Right now I'm doing leadgen in edu and improving my funnel, and signed up with one private network.

One thing I'd like to figure out is how to monetize more than just getting them to sign up to the lead gen offer which is connecting them with an educational specialist to figure out degree options. That is where the CPA payout occurs.

For example, once they've signed up to speak with a counselor, I'm not sure what else I can send to them other than another leadgen offer of the same type, meaning speak to another counselor.

I suppose I can sign up with more edu affiliate networks (I am signed up to one private network, and will probably sign up for wisdom soon, not sure of others), but then I'm sending them to the same type of offer, which they may have already found a school.

This might actually fall under the category of brand building, where my site is a resource for all things professional education.

I would really like to cross-monetize better with other types of offers...just not sure how to think about or find what other offer types could be compatible with edu niche, other than speaking to a degree specialist.

TIA affs!

Yeah that's tough... it does seem to be a pretty niched-down type of vertical...

Are you primarily talking about the 'funnel' as in email?

If that is the case, you could potentially look into solo ads, selling to other email marketers... I believe there are some good marketplaces for that though I don't have experience with them...

You could also certainly keep sending them back to your site and build it up as a content site...

You could also send them Life Insurance, Auto Insurance, Debt Relief, make money with surveys, etc type offers...

You could even just develop it as a daily 'newsletter' for adult education or college students or whatever demographic it is... just set up some google alerts for related news items and maybe send them a few pieces of news each day relevant to the niche, plus maybe a Dave Ramsey video or something (or someone else if the anti-debt message would be bad for your backend buyers obviously)... then include random affiliate offers in there...

But yeah, sounds interesting man!

One viable practice I’ve had some experience with when it comes to EDU leads and other similar verticals was something like this.

Before sending the visitors to the affiliate offer, I would send them through a questionnaire of my own first. Something like what you see in most offers, asking about age, gender, monthly income, region, and maybe some interests related to EDU.
At the end of the questionnaire they get asked to enter their email address. After successfully submitting the email, they are sent to an auto redirect thank you page where they are told something like “You’ve been qualified for partner XYZ. redirecting in Xs”

So the overall flow is something like this:

{Ad} > {Q1} > {Q2} > {Q3} > {Q4} > {Thank you - redirect page} > Affiliate offer page.

Please note that throughout the questionnaire it might be important to keep track of the answered questions. This because some networks will ask or request those questions anyway. By keeping track of these questions (passing them through URL parameters) will help you post the answers to the offer page. The less friction and repeated questions it has the better it is.

Make sure to ask your rep in the private offer network to give you direct access to the leadform page. This way you’ll be able to pass answers through URL parameters and the user will just re-enter his email address in that page to fire the conversion.

With such flow, you will then be able to retarget converters via email, where you can send them to the same or different offer in the same vertical. Or even test them in other verticals.

Hope this helps!
