Pop pills, pills I pop! - Vitamin website Dutch market 🇳🇱 (43)

Pop pills, pills I pop! - Vitamin website Dutch market 🇳🇱

Hi all, long time ago I posted something!

Next to Facebook advertising I am always on the look out for good domains and flip them. Until I stumbled on www.vitaminepillen.nl (ignore the content/design etc) for a very soft price. After some months of planning to flip it I decided to execute now. There are enough websites with vitamin info, but most websites have a lot of whistles and bells, heavy loading time and bad usability. The info must be presented clean, without any distractions like banners, sponsored stuff etc.

The domain is premium, there is a lot of miscommunication around taking vitamines/supplements (and shitty products!) and I think more and more people will spend their time and energy on selfcare coming years/decades. I am not going to target the fitness people, I want to educate the majority which are taking shitty multivitamines daily without knowing what they actually do. Last year the dutch vitamin market was around 140 million, if I can take 1% profit out of that I am happy.

So yeah, here I am currently working on;
- content. writing 300+ articles with 4 people (from very basic info about a vitamin or mineral - which food, for which bodyparts does it help etc - > to scientific articles, personal blogs etc)
- logo/design. a friend of my makes good stuff so he is busy now with the ingredients I gave him
- shop. find a partner with PROPER products, bought from the source directly, without resellers in between - whitelabel so my logo comes on the packages. I will also be looking for vitamin edibles, because these replacements (some people hate swallowing pills) are quite excelling too.
- regulations. another friend is a proper lawyer and has also good experience with ecomm. I need him to assist me on covering my ass, since it's a tense product ofcourse. also I want to include crypto payments (btc, doge etc) which will be something to cover too properly.

My goal is to be live 24th of April, since that's my bday. It will be hard work to reach that, but at least the content + website must be finished. Launching the shop some weeks later isn't a big problem for me.

Since it will take months/years to position myself on top regarding organic, I am pushing mostly via FB advertising, influencers and sponsored content on A+ websites.

Let this post be the start of something special. Ofcourse all input, tips and remarks are welcome. Coming weeks I will be busy with writing mostly, so I only try to update if relevant...

Cheers, Tim

Interesting follow along @stickupkid!

Can't wait to see how it goes. Good luck!

Love it man! Very cool!

Great domain! Good luck.

With regards to the articles.. 300+ articles seems like quite a lot. From my experience it might be better to have less articles but longer ones.

You will be better off combining some articles which have overlap into long-form ones.

Thanks, going to take that in account. Probably I am going to combine some then .

This will be the logo design, not sure yet which one I am going to use where exactly. My idea is to change the "dot" regurlaly attaching a certain "theme" with it. Blue = month of the "pregnant women" for example. This I will also use angle to attract visitors and make relevant and usefull pages for it.

The "V" is subtle gimmick referring to ✅ (healthcheck) and fist-pump (strength).

Do you want to have all 300 articles ready right from the start?

I would rather post them over longer timeframe to have more fresh content ready over longer time.

Yeah good point. At least having them already gives me the power to launch an article whenever I feel to, thanks!

But also makes pressure to have it all ready before you start

Do you want to use a custom solution for the website or something like Wordpress?

If latter one you could just add the articles already and publish them automatically then at later dates.

I need pressure I guess because I am quite lazy in general.

I probably go for a custom solution, website, shop and app all in one made by the same people.

You have no idea how good I can relate to it

Yup, no need to post all at once, but make sure you post "enough". I'm also building something now, will reveal it in a few weeks here on the forum, and I started with just a few articles/posts and already see it causing problems. The onsite factors suck because of that... the people don't have enough content to click through which hurts all the factors such as bounce rate, time on site, pageviews etc...

The "V" is subtle gimmick referring to ✅ (healthcheck) and fist-pump (strength).
Love this! But I wouldnt notice if you wouldn't tell, try to make one more variation to make it more obvious. Like making the right side of the line go a bit more UP

An early happy birthday Tim! How's the site coming along? Will it be ready for launch on the 24th?

Looks like a very exciting project indeed!

Website, logo/layout and texts are going along with the plan now yes! Next week I have a call meeting a potential pill manufacturer/distributor etc. He owns a vitamin subscription service which does well in Scandinavia. Let's hope I can get him on board!

That would help a lot, like a TON having someone with experience in this sensitive vertical on board would make everything much easier. Keeping fingers crossed for you!

Quick update: logo is done, website we are still discussing details before it's being developed.

Also found a really nice supplement supplier which offers a plug n play solution (including legal documents which meet the Dutch laws) for quite a decent price. Enough margin to dive under the current market prices and shake it up!

Just a question, does someone already accept crypto as a payment method for their own products/services? Some tips/services for that would be nice! I would really want to have like 25% of my sales going through crypto.

Thanks in advance!

Website - done
Crypto payments possible - done
Testing - as we speak, first testorders arrived without a problem

Tuesday 22 of June - I will go live for the world.

The website is in Dutch for now, and I stick to NL/BE first months. But when I see the concept (which is quite new) is doing well from start, I will let someone translate the whole shabam and I can do international shipping too.

Most amazing thing to see I am -20% avg cheaper than the "prominent" brands in NL, product-wide, some products (which are exact the same, percentages/concentration etc) over 75% difference!

Nice, having better prices is a huge advantage in pharma... especially the older buyers are very price sensitive.

Looking forward to your results once you launch officially!

Go check it out and learn some Dutch ;-) - www.vitaminepillen.nl

So we are now a month live. Launched some "funny" ads on FB/IG to create a friendly brand association. Here and there some sales also from the ads, but still losing money. That's calculated and ofcourse needed to provide the pixel with some relevant data!

In general people respond well and positive, even tho its a tricky product. Its fun to realize total strangers ordering stuff, whilst you are just live. At least the website shows potential since people trust it already without having real social autority (FB only like 30 likes and IG a bit more, around 600 followers).

Every 2- 4 days I launch a blog relevant to vitamines, food, lifestyle etc. Not too annoying in my opinion and avoid a strict schedule to surprise.

Especially the front page needs some adjustments and clearification, but since I send most people to a blog - > then product the front page isnt really decisive for actual conversion rates.
Up next;
- launch some win/sweep-like campaigns were people have to do something, and have a chance to win 100-1000 euro coupons for the shop
- adjust/optimize front page
- buy some more products, since I came up with some angles to launch on the socials
- google SEO check - > I am now 30 days live and "only" 16 pages seem to be indexed. I am not sure if I am too impatient, or its possible Google needs 2 months or more to index the website totally?

Thanks if anyone can answer upper question ^^

Keep you up to date!

1 month is not enough to have the full site indexed. I launched one a few months ago and it started slow too. What helped was to submit a sitemap via google's search console. Once I submitted it, google indexed about 60% of the urls in it. Have you done this already?

Google still seems to ignore quite a bit of the other pages I have on the site... like the tag urls, categories etc... I also noticed that building some links to subpages helps the indexing a lot.

Great progress again man, it's nice to see you are already selling some. I'm sure it will improve a lot once the site gains some credibility and as you build the brand up.

You can register your site in Google Search console
https://search.google.com/search-console/

Once done, you have the option to submit a sitemap. This usually speeds up a bit the process. But Google may not index all your pages if it decides one does not bring enough content / added value in comparison to what they already have in their db.

Just a heads up, browsing your site on Chrome and see 2 errors on the console and I cannot click any buttons for shopping.

thanks yeah, I am using search console but didnt do the sitemap yet. gonna check that out!
also added the business page and see 2 snippets so thats an oke sign I guess. maybe I need to be more patient and count 2-6 months for "full" coverage?

Yeah works perfectly. After I uploaded the sitemap the indexing went fast, thanks!
Sad news I cant advertise with my official FB page anymore lol. So I am now chasing FB to get rid of my restrictions.

Next thing - front page changes and setting up google adwords!

How is the website doing?

I'm from Holland and have some big FB pages and ecommerce sites. Maybe we can help eachother?

At the moment and last months mediabuy has been on low budget. Mainly because I saw people dropping off on product page mainly, and not per se checkout/atc stage.
Sharing stats won't be so interesting now, I will when I reach break-evenish. But I did get some decent feedback from experts and consumers what might help to increase CTR/CR.

- Next week last website/product page adjustements will be finalized - end of week boosting Google and FB campaigns.

- Organic traffic is slowly growing, as it tend to be and was planned. I got some decent backlinks for A+ websites, looking for ways to expand that naturally.

- I am also working on sponsoring e-Sport talents since I see a relevance in gaming and health.

- Overall I am still in loss and it cost money to keep it live, but thats not a big surprise after 6 months of being live I think. The market is quite competitive with strong players.

Thanks for the update, good thinks take time.

Do you also plan to add gaming boosters to your arsenal?

I see them promoted a lot by gaming related Youtubers here in Germany.

I didnt name them game boosters, but I consult on health in general and point them towards certain minerals or plants that can boost concentration / focus indeed.
Their lifestyle in general causing damage when only sitting and mostly eating snacks and powerdrinks. So they need education in general too lol.

Here is an example of one of the boosters I see more often promoted, maybe it can give you some inspiration https://triebwerk-energy.com/products/aim-boost

Sounds probably pretty familiar for some of us as well

The part with sitting is same for me but I don´t drink any powerdrinks/energy drinks/softdrinks at all.

I've seen quite a few ads promoting these products too. At first I was like WTF is that, but seems like there is a growing market for this. These companies are also pairing it with Merch and some additional gaming gear... looks like an interesting market to watch.

Vitamins have such a broad market - niching down may be the way to go!

Gamers would be a good idea. Athletes and body builders would be another one.

And then there are a TON of health conditions that are caused by vitamin deficiencies - you can use so many angles with so many different audiences!

One way to do free testing: Join some FB groups for the various conditions that are associated with vitamin deficiencies - for example groups for people with depression - and just make an innocent post that says something like "Has anyone heard that vitamin D deficiency can cause depression?" and see how many people are interested, what their concerns are etc., and craft your ads accordingly when targeting that audience.

For really broad "conditions" like anxiety and depression you may be able to target broad - just gender and age. (BTW women are twice as likely to suffer from depression than men - looking up statistics can really help with audience targeting.) (Parents of adolescents that suffer from depression could also be a good angle.)

Another source of inspiration: Got to amazon and go through reviews of the most popular vitamin products to see who are taking them, why they're taking them, what makes them pick one vitamin over another, preferences and dislikes etc. These can really help you craft your customer avatar and angles and wording for ad creatives.

You'll find a ton of reviews like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/NatureWise-Vi...dp/B00GB85JR4/

(Of course, you're the FB expert and know they don't like false claims - I'm sure you'll be careful!)

BTW: What's your UVP? There are so many vitamins on the market, it would take some time and work to establish your brand as the superior brand. But when you crack this it can become a very lucrative business. All the best my friend!

Amy

Awesome feedback, really like the FB page discussion part!

My relatively low prices must attract “sleepers/doubters/nay sayers/users of other brands.”

Dutch people are quite direct and simple and I would like to express that on the website. No too many whistles and bells.

Also my blogs are quite educational I think and I am busy getting new ones in on a weekly base.
