Beware: TJ banned my account last week (6)

Beware: TJ banned my account last week

So after years of spending $xxx, xxx annually Traffic Junky banned my account.

Just one day out of the blue I couldn't login, and it took me about a week to find out why since support and my AM was giving me the run around.

When they finally got back to me they said it was over a Copyright/DMCA violation.

As you know previously in the past if you had banners that were flagged for Copyright/DMCA they would just reject the ads. Now they I guess are just banning accounts.

For my account personally I didn't have any warnings. It's not like they warned me about some Copyright/DMCA infraction and I just uploaded creatives anyway.

I was just running my campaigns like I've done for years and all of a sudden I got the ban hammer.

I just wanted to give my STM brothers a heads up because at first they banned my account, and then they wouldn't refund my balance since I "violated the terms of service". My balance was $xx,xxx at the time, so as you can imagine I was pretty ticked off.

After a week of back and forth they finally granted me a refund.

I'm sure this has to do with all the recent bad press they have been getting as well as the Visa/Mastercard issues.

I guess my advice would be if you're running creatives you don't have the rights to (which is literally everyone), maybe don't keep a high balance for a while until things cool down.

Anyway that's my story lol.

Wow - thanks for the heads up!

Great to hear you got your balance refunded at least!

So - what now? Where to even get creatives you own rights to?

I did a search and found this:

http://www.adultstockphoto.com/

But amount of images is limited and pricing is high - starting at $4 per image - there goes all the profit.

Another alternative that may or may not work depending on how good TJ's detection methods are: Take screenshots from porn vids.

FB I know has the ability to "read" videos. We/STM had a video ad with footage we took at the various Affiliate World Conferences, that got rejected repeatedly for profanity and we were scratching our heads for a while - until I noticed that in one of the scenes (that lasted like a small fraction of a second) one of the attendees was wearing a tshirt that had the word "shit" on it. We removed that one scene and resubmitted and got approved. They're THAT good. Don't know if TJ's detection is at the same level of sophistication.

Thanks Amy.

My post was more just a warning to people running on TJ that if they do ban your account they may possibly not refund you for violating the terms of service.

I do also believe that the majority of people running on TJ are running non-compliant creatives.

So for those with smaller budgets that may be a disaster if all of sudden they close your account and seize your funds.

Also to give more insight I did run a lot of US campaigns, particularly on Pornhub. I guess maybe since that's such a visible geo/site maybe that caused an issue with the DMCA violation. Maybe if you run smaller geos you may not run into the problem I have, but who knows really.

Again I was not given any warning ahead of time. All of a sudden I just wasn't able to login to my account.

Hopefully this helps people be more cautious.

Ah that's ugly, I understand that they are going through a lot of heat lately, but banning account without a warning for something they have been absolutely ok with for years is just low. Not even mentioning the problems with getting the refund.

Looks like content providers are about to sell more content in the coming months. For anyone in need of content that's suitable for banners, I posted some links in this thread: https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...l=1#post410233

Yeah I really think it has a lot to do with the heat they are under lately.

But yeah that's literally the whole story, I don't run anything shady (ie malware, phishing, blackhat etc) and just one day out of the blue I couldn't login.

It kind of worked out for me though as I had been struggling the last few months on the platform to get profitable.

I just think lately the quality has gone down quite a bit and stunningly the prices seem to be increasing lol.

So maybe it's a blessing in disguise lol

Yup, they are not as good platform as they used to be, hard to say why, but the quality was way more constant some time ago. They are still a solid network, but it was easier to work with them in the past.
