It stands for "run of network", and means that basically you're targeting all the websites/placements the traffic source has, without selecting certain websites/placements.

Pros: Cheaper prices, bigger volume

Cons: Lower conversion rates than you'd get by targeting above-average quality sites or sites that are relevant to what you're promoting

Run Of Network.

It means your campaign will run on all placements for which your campaign is suitable and you get a winning bid. So if your campaign was too graphic (I see this is NSFW but RON applies to all sources) then it may not run on some placements.

Ideally at some point you want to develop a Blacklist of placements that do poorly for your campaigns. Even better is a Whitelist of where your campaigns do well, and then just run on those.

I have also seen the term RON used to describe traffic that a network cannot sell, so they offer it at a discount with no additional targeting... but this is not the correct way to use it, this should be called "remnant" traffic. For RON, vortex posted the proper definition above already.
