Tired of Ad Networks flooding the threads.

Hello people hope all is well.

This morning I was just going through posts and new threads and I kept on stumbling these threads where the publisher comments on his own post to grab the attention of the viewer and also to move his post forward.
I'm in ad networking myself but even I think that what they do is a little extra.
I want to see the opinion of users who are here looking for some type of services that might help them -
Do you think that such an aggressive and somewhat an abusive form of advertising is appreciated by the clients or no?

Just a topic to talk about I will appreciate everybody who responds.

Enjoy your day!

Hello,

I am having a look at it.
Networks are allowed to bump their threads twice a week. Most are actually complying with their rates. It is just that with the Black Friday, everyone is sending offers at the same time, which can lead to this impression. I have found one in excess so far out of 10 reviewed, and some are indeed posting a lot in the offers in the Affiliate Offers & Traffic Opportunities.

On your side, please try not to post your posts in bold italic. It makes it hard to read. I edited one.

Hi @bako_kaye. Thank you for your post!

We always appreciate when members point out what they like or don't like about our forums. This way we can do our best to provide solutions that can make everyone happy (which isn't always possible - but we'll never stop trying!)

You're touching on a topic we've given a LOT of thought to. Last time we did a restructuring of the forums here's what was done (among other things):

1)We put all the vendor-related sections (i.e. the "network promo stuff") in one place: The big "Vendors" subforum: https://stmforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?186-Vendors

Result: All the promotional threads are contained in one place, keeping the rest of the forums for discussions.

2)We excluded threads from this "Vendors" subforum from the "New posts" feed: https://stmforum.com/forum/search.ph...,198&nocache=1

Result: Members can see the latest informative posts without being distracted by promotional posts.

3)We moved the "Vendors" subforum closer to the top of the forum so that it got more attention and traffic.

Result: Affiliates that WANT to seek out these promotional posts - to find good offers, traffic, and other services and tools - can do so, by clicking into the "Vendors" subforum directly. Vendors get good exposure for their business because affiliates that DO click into that section, ARE looking for promotional posts, and EXPECTS to be "sold to".

4)We revised the forum rules to better inform all members on how to keep the forums spam-free:

https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...ll-STM-Members

https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...Vendor-Members

Result: Our moderation team has been diligently working behind the scenes to keep the amount of spamming in check. Most members are very respective of the forums and do their part to keep the forums spam-free, and for the few that have violated forum rules, warnings were issued - and some accounts were permanently banned.

With all the measures above, the spamming situation here is kept under control for the most part. But yesterday was Black Friday so things may have gotten a little out of hand. Please rest assured that this will NEVER become the norm.

We decided to allow threads from the "Discounts and Bonuses" section to show up in the "New posts" feed, because we feel they can provide extra value to members. Usually there aren't many new threads in this section - but then Black Friday happened. https://stmforum.com/forum/forumdisp...ts-amp-Bonuses

On STM there are affiliate members and vendor members. Both are valuable and crucial parts of the affiliate marketing industry. Members need offer and traffic recommendations to make money, and vendors need affiliates to make money.

And STM's job is to keep everything in good balance and serve both types of members so that EVERYONE can work together to make more profits.

Again - thanks for your post! You've reminded me that now would be a good time to bump those forum rule threads and publish a reminder in the next STM newsletter!

Personally, I believe that bumping posts with pretty much useless replies will not help the vendors at all, there are much better ways of grabbing the attention of our members. Those who give it the extra effort and actually become a part of the community, will definitely get more from the forum.

As Amy mentioned, we are trying our best to reach a healthy balance and numerous vendors have been already banned from the forums, when they kept on ignoring the rules. We also delete a lot of spammy threads all the time, which takes up quite a lot of time of the mods, that could be spend better elsewhere... but that's the nature of any online forum I'm afraid

Now that black friday is over, everything will return to normal - let's all create more posts with valuable content to push down the promo threads!

This phenomenon only happens once a year - thank you for everyone's understanding!
