When looking at offers, do you look at payouts and epc or just look for a particular category?
I look for a particular category I have made successful before, or that I think will do well with a certain traffic source.
Orrrrr theoretically, if I've never had a successful campaign before or just want to try something fresh I would ask my AMs which offer is killing it.
Payouts are way down the priority list, as well as epcs.
My method:
- I tend to do better in certain niches, but i will always try new ones!
- The best way to find out top offers is by asking affiliate managers you TRUST, so make a good connection with them and make sure you trust what they're telling you to promote. Like Green said, payouts and EPC are at the end of the list, don't worry about them.
- Have a plan/angle on how your going to promote and then how your going to SELL it, you have to have a plan of attack before you choose the offer. Tons of offers do well, if you don't have a plan, then nothing will do well.
I agree. I start by asking the aff managers which offers have people doing 6 figs/month on, using the traffic source you want (POF/FB/PPC, etc). Then I go on and try to see how they are getting the traffic, what their page looks like, etc. Then I make it better. One of my highest profit campaigns was mylife/reunion and their payout was only around $1.30-$1.50. Don't let a low payout discourage you.
In addition to everything above make sure you find out how long the offer has been around. A lot of new offers spring up do well for a few weeks then come crashing down. Since you're just getting started with a new campaign its better to find an offer thats teady for the long run while your testing/optimizing.
