Hey Guys,
Just wanna start a thread on what you can and can't do on sitescout with your creatives because it sounds like the policies are getting more strict and you can't be as creative. Are the following types still allowed?
1. Wierd Janky Frame movement

2. Flashing borders.

3. Mimicking a facebook interface - Dr. Sitescout did say he didn't like things that resembled interface UI (Play buttons, etc).

4. Quasi - user interface type buttons

Thanks for the input and looking forward to getting my first campaign up!
dead images
oops, fixed it!
The Facebook like thing looks clutch, shame they took it out =(. The Dynamic tags in the images is pretty awesome though!
1 and 2 maybe....might have to flash as a slower rate...and not have the whole banner move...but just a image...
3. def not
4. if it looks like facebook then no way
ya nothing facebook like is giong to get approved, i mean i think you can get those approved on some really shitty 3rd tier sites but belive me they dont convert. last year there was a time when you could get lot of creatives approved, even FB style and sitescout was very lucrative during that period of time but now its really hard to get it to work. not saying sitescout cant make you a nice bit of change, its just not like it used to . im with polar, number 1 you can get approved for sure, number 2 if you slow down the rate of the flashs it may (depending on the site) and number 3, def. not going to get it thru if its fb look
Hey Guys,
Thanks for the feedback, good to know whats generally accepted, not looking to piss anyone off here even if they do get approved! I've been cranking out a ton of Facebook/POF style ads and it's refreshing getting back into doing IAB banner sizes. I remember Green posting on tricks to increase CTR:

Obviously the one's that mimic UI aren't allowed but are the following good to go? Not quite the UI-type but I guess its subjective.
Coupon Style

Also, would you guys be willing to share some image tips/tricks for increasing CTR? I found the tips you provided in the webinar to be VERY helpful Polar!
I've perused the entire media buy section. It seems like people are just mostly testing in the following order:
1. Image
2. Copy
3. Buttons/Layout
4. Animation
The first two would fall under the category of "Shaky/Flashy", which would only be denied on sites that block that specific ad type. Some creative policies, like the FB imitation stuff, is global, while most policies are site specific. Usually the higher quality sites have more restrictions, while the lower quality sites have fewer. It's really site dependant. The last few banners you posted - the coupon and editorial style - are pretty good on most sites.
Image - is most important and will affect CTR the most
Copy - your grabber or headline will affect intent to convert a lot
Buttons - your c2a affects both intent and ctr
animation - ctr
