Test Budget

Hi,

I would like to know, what is the recommended test budget to test SOI and Mobile content offer with Redirect and Pop traffic, since I have seen that some people say 5x, others 10x and even 20x the payout of the offer.

Thank you

10x payout per offer and landing page, if if there are no conversions disable camp

so if you have 2 offers, 3 landing pages and 1$ payout: 2 * 3 * 1$ * 10 = 60 USD

if you get conversions, follow statistical significance before cutting offers or landers.

Please DO note that this is day 30-32 of Amy's tutorial - go on and do previous 30 ones before (if you haven't already) to get better grasp of campaigns setup.

Rushing on early stages is not a wise thing to do.

^What @plutus said.

However - that rule of thumb only acts as crutches to newbie affiliates. You'll no doubt develop your own rules as you gain experience.

Also: If you're using a proven lander, and/or targeting good placements/zones, then you won't need to use nearly that much test budget. And if you're testing multiple offers in the same campaign, and have at least one really good offer among them, then statistics will often eliminate the inferior offers for less than the "rule of thumb" budget stated above.

Excellent, Thank you @plutus @vortex for your advice.

I also recommend the formula

Number of landing pages x Number of offers x Average offer payout x 10 = Test budget

But when you don´t see any conversions after 50% of the test budget you can kill the test and test something else.

This can save you some money, there is no need to keep the stuff running when there are no signs of success after half of the test budget is spent.

I think you also have to divide your test budget into;
- learning actual mediabuy/traffic source

- funnel testing, which contain;
1. ad testing (getting highest CTR, lowest cost)
2. prelander testing (getting most click-throughs as possible)
3. offer/page/lander testing (switch offers, check out pages, variety of submit forms etc)

Mediabuy cost will be more focussed on getting to know traffic sources, audiences, features, tracking etc. Once you understand that you proceed to ad/prelander/offer testing. It depends on a lot of factors which of these 2 steps will cost you most money/time/energy. Ofcourse when testing you need to focus on all parts, but at least make sure during testing you actually know why/where you need to do optimisations and adjustments.

If you are working for a network/agency/advertiser, you probably have enough offers and insights around you to create a decent funnel in no time. But you have to learn the actual traffic source and put money into it to see how it works (and how it doesn't).

If you are a loner, especially the ones staying low key and barely see any sunshine. Often they rock at stats, funnels, tweaking etc, but lack a good network and creating goodwill to get the best offers out there. Don't underestimate the power of socializing. Money speaks for sure, but humans are species which need affection, love and relationships. Although nature might fight that a bit. That's why the word "human being" is so fun, make sure you find a healthy balance in the "human" part (affection, socializing) and the "being" part (your conscious, inner peace, creativity, awareness, being alone etc).

Ofcourse you can have best of both worlds, those are the actual so called "super affiliates".

Wow. This is one of the smartest things I have read on this forum so far.

Can relate to the loner part, not much of a "human" part in me (following up your reasoning).

For me it's way more difficult to handle social & relationship part of "human being" than handling "being" itself.

This is something I'm working on but it's thousands times harder than optimizing some campaign to greenish.

Thanks for that post @stickupkid, that made me thinking

Good point, especially in the beginning you mostly have to spend more because you not only have to test the funnel but you also need to learn the whole progress of running campaigns and get used to it.
