Open a follow up thread, explain what verticals / traffic sources you want to run, and ask your questions along the way.

The more experienced members will be able to help and suggest threads (rather than trying to read everything at the beginning)

I’m new in Affiliate marketing and want to learn because now my main questions are what to do next and which path to go

Read every single topic about the vertical/traffic source you want to run? The forum is full of stuff, only following the 40 days guide isnt enough. It's a good start/base tho ofcourse!

If you don't know yet, what/how to run try to learn the basics of affiliate marketing first (google?) and see what skills you have, which are needed and which possible traffic sources / verticals suit best to you based on experience, current skillset, interest, difficulty, needed budget, your goals.

Short reply:

First learn the basics of tracking and running campaigns, then rather focus on getting something specific running instead of trying to read and learn about everything.

Longer reply:

Especially in the beginning it can help alot to focus on topics and threads that are helpful for your current situation so that you don´t get overwhelmed by the huge number of posts.

It doesn´t help you when you read about stuff that you can´t or won´t use anyway when it´s more important to learn other stuff first.

When you´re just starting it doesn´t really matter which route you choose, it´s important to first learn the basics about tracking and how to structure a campaigns and so on.
These basics are more or less same for many traffictypes.

When you know the basics it´s time to move on and to decide what traffictype you want to run.

Beginners mostly choose pops because it´s rather easy to learn from the technical side but you could also start with push.

These two traffic types are pretty good to start with because they are pretty affiliate friendly.

Once you have decided for a traffictype focus on it, read threads about it and try to learn as much about it without getting distracted by other things.

There are always so many other opportunities apart from what we are doing so it´s important to focus on something specific and then work on it.

Hint: STM is not only great for learning but it´s also a great place for networking

Analysis paralysis.

If you’re that experienced, you’ll be sorta successful no matter what you pick first. So just choose randomly.

You’ll get more feedback in a follow along on push/pops/native/FB if you start running some actual camps and have a FA for people to give advice on.

In order of actual feedback amount and frequency:

You’ll get much more feedback on push (twinaxe, Erik, and half the forum)
Then pops (twinaxe, diplomat, vortex, and the other half of the forum)
Then Native (jack_i and thedudeabides are great!).
Then FB (sorry, it’s mostly hush-hush mysterious FB, go buy accounts on BHW and PM stickupkid around these parts )

But you won’t get any feedback until you pick a traffic source and start running camps.

Once you pick a traffic source to tackle, then you can find all the info you need. But until then, it’s all guesswork on everyone’s part.

So pick one.

Randomly, if you must

Choose a traffictype that is interesting for you and that matches your level of experience, then focus on it and get it running.

Important is to just start and don´t get distracted by other stuff, don´t procrastinate.

You can also open a follow along to get direct help for your own campaigns.

Keep one thing in mind, you don't have to stick with whatever you pick at the beginning, for the rest of your life. Many of us changed verticals, niches, traffic sources, traffic types... trying to pick the best path now is counter productive, it will just slow you down and get confused even more. You just need to start somewhere.

So if you decided to go with the 40-day guide, stick with it until you finish all the lessons. You're looking for a roadmap, well the guide pretty much is one... it's not gonna turn you into an AM ninja, but it will definitely help you understand a lot about POP traffic and how to run it. Once you're done with the guide and actually run some campaigns, it will all become a lot clearer. Then you can decide where to go next.

The truth is, the basic AM principles are the same, no matter what traffic type or vertical you choose... it's all about ADs/LPs, Offers, Copy... so learn these basics with the guide, or just choose something randomly (as jaybot suggested) then decide what to do next.
