How to scale correctly in PUSH? (7)

Hi Rainyan

What have you changed on the other campaigns compared to the initial success besides blocking sources? Did you change anything on the bidding side?
Be aware also that duplicating campaigns and running both the original and the copy at the same time will increase your volume but also double your frequency cap from 1/24 to 2/24h. This can lead to a quality decrease and spending budget faster. I wouldn't suggest running a campaign this way until it actually reaches positive ROI that you're satisfied with, it's a means of scaling in most cases.

For aggressive networks it would probably be a good idea to optimize at 1x payout.

Another strategy for BL/WL might be similar to what you're using, in the sense that:
You can whitelist all or the top 80% converting pubs into a WL campaign with a higher bid. Exclude the sources from the main BL campaign and use it for farming/scouting new pubs to add to the WL. Play around with the bids until you find a sweetspot.

Push campaigns can die pretty quickly and when the performance goes down day by day like you've shown in the screens, it's often needed to refresh the ads. Have you tried that?

When I was running push traffic heavily, I was firing up quite a lot new campaigns daily, some clones, some freshly new ones. And I was changing the copy, the image, the icons... everything to combat the burnout.

Thanks popcash and matuloo for answering my questions

Did you change anything on the bidding side?
Yes, in some campaigns I test out different biddings, but lately the ROI went negative in most of my campaigns (with different bids). Maybe because of the push subscribers behaviours as mentioned.

And I was changing the copy, the image, the icons
I did test out different creatives from time to time. I usually test that in a campaign : the original well-performed copy + 3/4 new icons/titles. But usually the original copy performs the best in terms of CTR and CR. Maybe I'll try to exclude the original copy from the testing campaign.

Try to launch new campaigns with new copy and new icons/images... assuming that I understand it correctly, you wrote or copied a copy that proved to be solid, so you've been running it since, with minor modifications. Over time it's been showing a decline and none of the tweaks you tried produced results better than the original copy, right?

It's quite possible that you copied a popular copy, that's been widely used by many others OR many others copied it from you by now, which resulted into a burnout and it lost steam. So now you have to come up with a new one, which might require some testing, it's not like every copy you come up with is going to perform well. Basically, any copy/image/icon will stop working and some point and you need to replace it with something fresh, that will grab users interest again. That's why it's a good idea to dedicate part of the profit to testing new creatives all the time.

Hi! To scale up it's important to optimize your campaign correctly.

Here are some tips:
• analyze the performance of your creatives;
• update your creatives regularly;
• optimize targeting options;
• turn off irrelevant traffic sources.

Here are my 2 cents:

I start push campaigns with high quality targeting.

When I then have a good funnel and need to scale I first run the same targeting on higher bid (if possible in terms of profitability).

Then I run the same targeting on lower quality levels for more volume.

When this is running as well I test different targeting (desktop/mobile and stuff) and/or wider targeting depending on offer requirements.

Once you have a good funnel you can also run it on other sources to scale.

Important for push campaigns is that you can´t just keep them runnign when they are working good.

You still need to create new campaigns again and again because push campaigns tend to lose volume rather fast compared to other traffic.

With new campaigns I mean new on the trafficsource, not completely new campaigns.

When a creative is working I keep it running as long as possible, I only change the creative when it still receives volume but performance gets worse.

As long as it´s working there´s no need for me to change it.
