Day 1: Applying to Various Networks

***********************************

ACTION

Let's start off with some simple preparatory tasks - like registering for accounts, and getting into the right mindset.

But first - a disclaimer:

DISCLAIMER: Affiliate networks, traffic networks, and any other products/services I mention in this or other tutorials on STM, are my personal suggestions ONLY. They are not endorsed by STM. Please use these products/services at your own discretion and risk.

1)First of all, let's sign up to a few affiliate networks that are newbie-friendly, that have offers we can direct-link to without having to prepare landing pages.

I'll also suggest some sample answers for when you're filling out the applications. These suggested answers are based on the assumption that you're completely new to paid traffic and affiliate marketing. If you already have some experience, then please fill-in accurate and truthful information that reflect your actual experience level.

-Go to https://app.zeydoo.com/signUp. Fill out your contact information and click "Next".

-For the next set of questions, here are sample answers if you have zero experience running campaigns:

-Click "Sign Up" when done.

-You should receive an email from them in seconds. Click on the verification link within.

-You'll be asked to set up your password.

-After setting up your password, your account will be in pending status. You may see a chatbox popup that asks for more information about your experience and traffic sources, how long you've been in affiliate marketing, whether you have a PropellerAds account, etc. Here you can reply in the chat to increase your chances of getting accepted. Introduce yourself and talk about your aspirations and goals for affiliate marketing. Treat this like a job interview - convince the network that if they accept you and spend time working with you, that their efforts won't be in vain.

Spend some time crafting your message. Zeydoo has lots of great offers - they'd be worth your time.

-Zeydoo should reach out in the next days either via chat or email. They may ask you additional questions, and then they would either approve or reject you.

Please POLITELY inquire about the status of your application, and be patient in waiting for a response. AMs are busy people – most of them are taking care of affiliates practically 24/7 except when they’re sleeping. So be understanding and don’t hound them.

-Ask your AM for a list of their best offers that can convert on pop traffic WITHOUT using a pre-lander (i.e. offers that can convert when linked to directly), that have low payouts of below $1, preferably even below $0.50. Also ask them to share a list of top geos and mobile carriers for each offer - at the time I'm writing this they have offers that accept traffic from multiple geos, so we'd want to narrow down the number of geos to choose from. They may give you a link to an image like this:

Or they may just give you a list of geos and carriers in chat. Don't forget to ask them to approve the recommended offers for you!

-Lastly: In the Zeydoo interface, go to the Finance in the left menu > Billing settings and complete your billing information so you can get paid later. In the process, you will likely need to provide some sort of personal documents to confirm your identity.

-Go to http://publisher.haka.mobi/signup. Fill out the form asking for contact info and click "Submit".

-You should receive an email from them in seconds. Click on the verification link within.

-You'll be asked to set up your password. When you finish doing so you'll be directed to the affiliate dashboard.

-Click on "Offers" in the left sidebar menu. You should see the message "Your account is now pending approval! Before we approve you offers we would like to know a bit more about your traffic. Please fill in this and your account will be approved shortly." Click on the "form" button and you'll land on a google form. Fill that out. Below are suggested answers to some of the questions:

Q: Please select best which describes yourself
A: Affiliate Individual

Q: Years of Experience in Affiliate Marketing
A: Newbie (0-5 months)

Q:What traffic sources do you run with?
A: PropellerAds

Q: Top Verticals currently running
A: CPA VAS / Click 2 SMS
(This is actually what you want to start running with them. If you're currently already running campaigns and your vertical is listed, by all means choose that instead.)

Q: What are your combined affiliate revenues across networks per month?
A: 0-5k

Q: How did you hear about us ?
A: STM
When done, click "Submit".

-Haka should reach out either by email or by skype. They may ask you additional questions, and then they would either approve or reject you.

If you don’t hear back in, say, a week, you can contact Shivang via skype: shivang-gude

Again, please be polite when inquiring about the status of your application - I've covered this above in the Zeydoo section.

-Ask your AM for a list of their best click2sms offers. Also ask them to share a list of top geos and mobile carriers - at the time I'm writing this they have offers that accept traffic from all geos, so we'd want to narrow down the number of geos to choose from. They may give you a link to a spreadsheet like this:

Or they may just give you a list of geos and carriers in chat. Don't forget to ask them to approve the recommended offers for you!

-Also ask your AM to set up your payment method with you so you can get paid later.

Some of you may have gone through the $1 Guide and already have an account with Mobipium - in which case you can skip this section.

Go to https://affiliates.mobipium.com/signup?origin=stm40day

(This is NOT an affiliate link. Mobipium just wants to track clicks so they’d know I’ve sent you.)

-Fill out the form.

For “Activity” choose “Media Buyer”.

For “Traffic” choose “Both”.

For “Vertical” choose “Carrier Billing”.

The rest of the fields are self-explanatory. When done click "SIGN UP".

-You should receive an email shortly, that has a confirmation link in it. Click on this link to verify your email.

-You should then receive an email with additional questions. Simply reply to the email with your answers.

Below are suggested answers to some of those questions. If they ask any other questions (because these questions can change), just answer honestly. They're friendly to newbies - just let them know you're following this tutorial so won't be bothering them with a ton of newbie questions.

Q: Do you do your own Media Buying? Or do you work with Affiliates?
A: I’m doing my own media buying.

Q: What kind of verticals are you interested in?
A: I’m following STM's 40-day tutorial, where I'll be running your carrier-billing offers to start.

Q: Which are your TOP GEOs in terms of volume?
A: I’ll be buying pop traffic from PropellerAds to start. I can run any geo where you have offers that convert well.
(By the way - for convenience, affiliates and networks like to use 2-letter country codes instead of typing out entire country names. You can find them here:

https://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/ctycodes.htm)

-Give Mobipium some time to get back to you. If for some reason you didn’t get an email containing an AM’s contact information, here are some Mobipium AMs you can contact on skype – again, please be polite and patient in waiting for a response:

Flor Savasi: live:flor.savasi

Guillermo Lorenzi: guillermo.lorenzi

Manuel Perez: live:mperezmazzini
-Ask your AM for a list of the "best 1-click carrier-billing offers from tier 3 and 4 geos, with payouts below $1, that allow pop traffic", and ask them to approve these offers for you.

-Also ask your AM to set up your payment method with you so you can get paid later.

(I may add more traffic networks in this section soon - please check back later.)

2)Sign up for accounts on several pop traffic networks. These are places we'll be buying the visitors, aka "paid traffic", from.

-Go to PropellerAds.

-Click on "Sign Up" at the top, and choose to sign up as an "Advertiser". When signing up for any traffic network, we need to sign up as an "Advertiser" and not a "Publisher". However, when signing up with affiliate networks, we need to sign up as a "Publisher" and not "Advertiser". Confusing, but two sides of the same coin.

-First page is just some personal contact information - only fields marked with stars (*) are mandatory. The rest are optional. When finished click "Next" to see more questions.

-Here are suggested answers to some of the questions:

Q: Please describe your business model
A: I am an affiliate and want to promote products from CPA networks or direct advertisers

Q: What other traffic sources and CPA networks do you currently work with?
A: PopAds, Haka Mobile, Mobipium

Q: What advertising formats are you planning to use?
A: OnClick (Popunder)

Q: What verticals and market niches do you currently work with?
A: Mobile content

Q: Comments, e.g., goals of your advertising campaigns, your website, etc.?
A: Run pop traffic to legit mainstream CPA offers from affiliate networks such as Haka Mobile and Mobipium. I'm following the 40-day pop tutorial on STM.
-Accept the terms and conditions and click on "Sign up".

-Find the confirmation email from them and click on the link to activate your account.

-Go to PopAds. Click on "SIGN-UP".

-Most of the fields are self-explanatory. For "Account Type" select "Advertiser". Fill everything out, accept the terms, and click "Register".

-You'll receive an email from them - click on the confirmation link to activate your account.

(I may add more traffic networks in this section soon - please check back later.)

3)Lastly: If you haven't already, explore how this forum works by clicking into the various forum sections and subsections to check them out. Also read this post on how to contact STM if (God forbid) you ever get locked out of the forums (and save this information somewhere!)

***********************************

EXPLANATION

1)In this tutorial, we'll be running popunder/popover traffic - referred to as Pop Traffic in general - to CPA or cost-per-action offers.

If you're not familiar with what pop ads are, just go to any torrent site and click around until a full-page ad appears out of nowhere to take over your screen. Some of the most popular pop ads are push notification subscriptions ("[website.com] would like to use your Notifications" with the "Allow" and "Block" buttons), antivirus ("you have x viruses on your machine - subscribe to our service / install our software to protect your machine now!", and sweeps ("congratulations - you've won an iphone 11!")

These CPA offers can be obtained from affiliate networks. We can pop the offer page in the ad directly. Or we can pop a presell page (aka landing page) in the ad, and if the visitor clicks on a link on that page they'd be redirected to the offer page, where if they choose to sign up for the offer, we'll get paid a commission.

Pop is the cheapest form of traffic you can buy, which makes it a good traffic type to learn the basics of media buying - such as tracking, landing pages, testing, and campaign optimization.

Pop traffic is also the easiest to run, because there are fewer variables to test. No banners are involved, and there's minimal audience targeting. You either just send visitors to the offer page, or send them to a presell page first and then the offer page. Nice and simple.

2)The affiliate networks you've applied to above will try to contact you! Keep an eye on your email and chat messengers, and pick up on phone calls - basically monitor all the different methods of contact you've left on the application forms.

3)Some of the networks may want to have a chat with you before deciding on approving your account. Just be honest about your experience level - all the networks above are newbie-friendly.

Main things to remember are:

-Be professional,

-Make it clear that you'll do your best to succeed and that you're not just dabbling,

-Let them know you're a member of STM and following this tutorial, and that you can get help from this forum when you need to, and that 4)you'll abide by their terms of service.

The top concerns of affiliate network reps are:

-They want to know that their time spent with you will result in profits,

-They don't have to do a lot of hand-holding, and

-You won't do anything shady to get them into trouble (both with the affiliate network and with the advertisers a.k.a. the offer owners).

4)After you're accepted by an affiliate network, ask your affiliate manager ("AM" for short) for their skype/telegram/whatsapp whatever and add them - if they haven't added you first.

You can also log into your affiliate dashboard after getting approved - on some of the networks you'll find the contact info of your AM there as well.

5)Remember to set up your payment information with your AMs so you can get paid later. It would also be good to ask how often will payment be made, what the payment threshold is (i.e. what amount you need to reach in order to get paid in the next payment cycle), and whether you need to request

6)If your AMs ask you to set up your tracker postback, tell them you'll be doing that soon enough - we'll cover how to do that in the next couple of days.

Hi Vortex (Amy)

Not sure if you remember me, but we talked on Skype in early 2018...I hope you are all well and healthy during this tough time

Anyway, as for newbie friendly network, what do you think about MaxBounty? I applied with them, got rejected, and sent them an appeal detailing how I would drive traffic and run campaigns. I heard about this network on Charles Ngo's Leadgen Engine course.

Thanks,
Cynthia

Yes Cynthia of course! I think I saw your message come through the STM Page inbox, which I responded to. How are you?

Covid hasn't affected me. I'm an energy healer so my immune system is good. My gf and I still try to stay away from crowds though to further mitigate risks. Been spending time in nature, hiking in the woods etc. Hope you're staying safe too!

As for aff networks - MaxBounty is one of the oldest and is a very reputable network for sure, but I wouldn't hold my breath for them to approve because there are so many good networks out there.

Can you please refresh my memory as to what your experience level is? And what kinds of verticals you have run?

oo!

Amy
Yes, I am all good, unfortunately still working 9-5 but with lots of health protocols in place of course and having daily dose of red ginger, sunlight, and work-out for immune booster

Great, looks like you are doing very well! ;p At times like this, being able to work remotely is truly privilege...

Long story cut short, I was trying different types of online business all this time (e.g. e-commerce, trading, Instagram), just to see which would click with me and align with my life values. At the end, none of them did, and it led me back to affiliate marketing, which was pretty much my first "online' experience.

Fast forward 2-years, I am basically still a newbie in this space, but my mindset has completely changed and I am now ready to do the work.

I read your report, "what's working in affiliate marketing in 2020", and decided to do WH LeadGen offers, potentially in the finance or other pandemic-friendly verticals, and have been trying to get into networks ever since.

Are you aware of newbie friendly networks that has plenty of such offers? Anyway, what is your focus now in AM?

Thanks,
Cynthia

Ah great - thanks for the update! Sounds like you've been busy. Not everything will work out for everybody - and sometimes it takes a few attempts to get something working. Good that you're giving AM another try.

For WH leadgen offers in the finance vertical: Try Clickdealer and Leadnomic - just those two networks should keep you plenty busy For beginners, auto insurance may be the easiest to start with. And low payouts will keep test budget low.

But where are you planning on running these offers? Pop is more suited to broader appeal stuff like sweeps. Finance leadgen offers are more suited for FB and Native.

Yes, it took quite some time to see if something is really not working. Thanks Amy, I will give a try to both of them!
and yes, pretty much on FB Pretty bold statement for a newbie I guess...

Anyway, sorry for the delay response, I am in Indonesia and 4 AM here...

By the way Amy, I am thinking to create a company for AM purposes, for better taxes, etc down the road.
Does the company location matter? I imagine that some networks may only accept affiliates from certain countries (e.g. US, UK, etc)
I have been seeing this ads on Instagram informing people that foreigner can set up a company and have a bank account in the US.

I'm not sure whether affiliate networks will discriminate affiliates baes on their country, although I have heard rejections of affiliates from certain countries due to their having a bad reputation for spamming/scamming, which can lead to low lead quality.

Once you've built up some revenue with at least one affiliate network, you shouldn't have difficulty getting into more networks. So it may not be worth it to set up a company in the US JUST for that purpose.

Company location is usually chosen based on tax considerations. I would encourage you to have a chat with your accountant about this to find out what your options are for your particular situation.

When you start to make more money - 5 figures a year or more in profits, also check out digitasfinance.com.

But do you think the affiliates will discriminate based on individuals that own or do not own company? And at what point do you reckon an affiliate marketer should actually start a company to run their activity?

I haven't confirmed this with affiliate networks directly, but I believe affiliate networks will have more confidence in an affiliate if they have a company name and a website - makes them look more "legit". But as I've mentioned, once an affiliate has generate good revenue with at least one network, they shouldn't have too much trouble getting into the rest. And it's not hard to get into the first few networks as there are lots that are newbie-friendly and have good offers. So I wouldn't start a company JUST for the sole reason of being able to get into networks more easily - but that's just me.

As for what time an affiliate should start a company: What it basically comes down to is whether the tax benefits (write-offs etc.) will outweigh the cost of the extra paperwork and trouble from setting up the company. Tax laws in each country are different, and it's also possible to set up the company in another country. It really would be best for each affiliate to consult with his/her accountant to get advice that is customized to their unique situation.

Hi Amy

Well noted with thanks

I applied to Clickdealer and got rejected as well. It got me thinking if it was me or the entry bar had been increased due to pandemic....
What do you think the best way out Amy?

Thanks,
Cynthia

Clickdealer has always been careful about who they accept into the network. They DO take SOME newbies (otherwise I wouldn't have written them into the tutorial) but not many. Just apply again when you've made $500-1k with other networks. No need to overthink things.

The more networks you apply to, the more will accept you. So just apply to more networks. Getting rejected isn't personal, and shouldn't be taken as a personal failure.

@vortex is it possible that it's taking Haka over a week to contact? I applied there before even this post was created and just noticed that you stated that CPA VAS / Click 2 SMS should be selected as verticals and I've chosen sweepstakes, might this be a reason?

Thanks Amy, sorry for late response, I didn't realize that you had replied as there was no notification...
By the way, I am currently studying Charles Ngo's Lead Gen Engine course, and having trouble to both contacting their support and Charles himself as the emails bounced back to me.

I have tried contacting him on his Facebook, as well as on STM's private message.

Are you aware of other Charles' students that I can connect with here on STM?

Thanks,
Cynthia

The offer category you select shouldn't influence too much their decision to approve you or not.

It's been some time - sorry I missed your post until now! Have you gotten approved yet? If you haven't, please PM me the email you signed up to Haka with, and I'll personally follow up with my rep there. (And please update this thread to let me know you've PMed - otherwise I never check those.)

Yes, like day or so after posting this. I got assigned to about 30 random multi-geo offers and can't apply to anything else, is this all they've got or am I on some kind of trial before getting access to everything else?

You can certainly start a thread here to see if other Charles' students will reply!

I've left a message with Charles - will let you know. (EDIT: Charles has apparently reached out to you already - sorry for my late reply!)

Fantastic thanks for the real-time reply - I'll strive to do that more often!

Regarding the 30 multi-geo offers: That's all I see in my account as well. Has your AM shared with you the spreadsheet containing top geos and ISPs?

If not let me know and I'll PM the link.

To be honest I'm not sure if I have any AM from the Haka assigned to my account. I also received no message regarding account approval, just got email about that 30 offers approval that I did not apply to (LOL). Would really appriciate PM with that link

EDIT: What is Haka minimum payout? And what is the interval? I'm thinking about testing it, saw good follow along but if its more than 100$ I'll go back to ClickDealer as I already have 80$ in rev there and it's still not even 1/5 of theirs minimum rev to pay out

Got it - will PM the link to you right now. However, before promoting the offers, it would be best to confirm with your AM that you ARE indeed approved for the offers and that the links ARE active - I don't want you running into any accidents.

I'm not 100% sure about the minimum payout - let me get you an answer. Will reply here when I get it.

Hello Vortex (Amy),

Wanted to start out by saying I am beyond grateful for the time you put into everything you do, it really shows your character.

I am doing my best to stay focused and motivated (as my brain fry's daily) to make this work lol

I am essentially a newbie even having some knowledge of the industry coming into it.

I actually managed to get approved into Maxbounty, clickdealer, adcombo and mobipium, (waiting on Haka) and I am at the beginnings of your new 40 day currently.

After speaking with my AM for Maxbounty they do only tier 1 and 2 and do not do one click offers.

He recommended a sweeps offer for iphone he said converts well with a $2.90 payout per lead.

It also stated on the offer page converts on SOI-short 3 page submit?

Is that an offer I can implement in the guide, and either way, what offers should I be asking for from a networks like them.

I haven't asked for offers from anyone but Maxbounty and Mobipium because I don't want to annoy any of my AM to much until I know what to say as while I follow your guide.

I am still learning what everything means and I apologies for my ignorance, I do my best to search the forum before annoying anyone.

I hope you and your family are safe and well.

I am essentially a newbie even having some knowledge of the industry coming into it.

Thanks for reaching out! And please feel free to ask questions at any time - that was why you joined the forum! I'm well and so is everyone - hope you and your loved ones are staying safe too during this pandemic.

You can run any offer you like from any network - it's just that when you're a newbie it would be easier to stick to the same networks as in the tutorial so you can get step-by-step instructions on how to set up tracking links etc.

You can run tier 1/2 offers. The methodology is similar to running tier 3/4 offers. The major difference is you'll be paying more money to learn the same things, because 1)tier 1/2 offers tend to have higher payouts so you'd be paying more to collect actionable data, and 2)tier 1/2 geos tend to have greater competition so would require more testing and optimization to reach green.

Short 3-page submit sounds like a complicated flow. For beginners it would be better to stick with simpler conversion flows, like SOIs that only require name and email. In general: The simpler the flow, the lower the payout, and the more conversions you can collect on the same test budget.

Hope that helps and please ask any further questions at any time!

Amy,

Thanks for the help! Funny enough, even in my ignorance, that was essentially the conclusion I was coming to.

I have yet to hear back from Haka so I will focus on Mobipium for now.

Cheers.

Hi Amy,

Thank you for all the wonderful tutorials, really both 2019 and 2020 are very detailed. thank you for putting all the time into it for the rest of us.
I am in haka for some time now and get this message "Your account is now pending approval!" I have filled out the form several weeks ago. I have also tried contacting shivang on skype several times but was unable to get through. i have some access to click2sms offers from June 2020 but nothing since.

Try sending that form again - I have sent it like three times before got any response after close to three weeks.

I still have no idea who my AM is - I just received an email that I got approved to 35+ offers that I can run globally .

Wasn't running a lot Haka since approval so can't really tell if this approach is the best one you could make.

Messaging someone from Haka on Skype might indeed be smarter way to resolve this problem.

Lastly - when you warm up your affiliate muscles enough go and create Follow-Along - STM consists of people that are really helpful in all of the beginner's issues, this way you can boost your learning speed a lot.

Wish you good luck with your first campaigns.

Thank you for your kind feedback!

Regarding Haka - @plutus has given some great suggestions! (Thank you!)

How long has it been since you applied? Please try applying again, and be sure to monitor your email including the junk folder to make sure you don't miss their emails. If you don't hear back in two weeks, please let me know by posting here, and I'll personally follow up for you.

Glad you got approved!

As for the questions - just answer honestly. If you're a completely newbie following this tutorial put this:

-Traffic types: Pop

-Expected daily volume: 50-100

-Volumes you generated with similar offers: Newbie following vortex' 40-day tutorial on the STM forum, so haven't promoted similar offers yet

For additional info, you can tell them that although you're a newbie, you're very driven and very determined to succeed. Please put this in your own words.
