Hi,
recently migrated from SiteGround to WPX and hetrixtool sent me down notice like this:
San Francisco: HTTP code 301
Amsterdam: HTTP code 301
Sydney: Timeout (10 sec)
Tokyo: HTTP code 200
Downtime: 1 min
and WPX says: The 10 seconds Timeout for few locations is far from downtime of a website.
We do not and we have never said in any of our articles that we guarantee 100% up time.
We do guarantee however a 99.95% up time and so far neither of your websites has experiences a downtime even from what is provided in your monitoring tool. There is daily automatic cache clear for all your websites, which allows new changes to be properly applied and displayed on your websites. In that period when the cache is cleared and the new one is re-build there might have been a slight temporary timeouts for certain locations.
Is what they said correct?
I added other websites hosted on SG but I didn't get these downtime notice of them and am confused...
Any server can run into issues and experience a short downtime, but these should be minimal for sure.
The question is, how reliable is the monitoring tool, they do send their requests from some servers too and there is a chance that there was some problem on their end.
What they sent you in the reply might be true as well, it depends on their process of handling the caching... if its really the case, you should get a downtime notice around the same time on the next day too... in case the monitoring tool does their job at that given time.
Do you use any traffic analytics tool on your website? Try to look for repetitive drops in traffic, those might help you to confirm that the caching is causing a daily downtime.
But anyways, if it's a 1 minute downtime, I wouldnt worry about it too much.
I do have some false positives from time to time with Hetrixtools.
I suggest to raise the time-out to 15-30 seconds to avoid having too much notifications.
